Abstract.

Mission and vision are the two most important ingredients that must appropriately be designed and perhaps followed to the latter as they provide the required framework and basis at which organizations and project team managers must adhere to achieve desired goals. Worth understanding is that mission, and vision statements facilitate the alignment of the organization's objectives or project team objectives towards anticipated outcomes. Therefore, the project targets might prove hard to achieve if not well designed. A mission statement can be defined as a brief and short statement that elaborates reasons for an organization's existence (Panagiotidis, Tsolakis, & Tsigkas, 2020). It defines an organization's mains goals and operations by providing insights on what kind of product or services it offers, who are its primary customers or market, and its geographical region of operations.

On the other hand, a vision statement may be described as a short paragraph that provides a brief description of a company or an organization's goals, which perhaps states what the company is trying to build. Both mission and vision statements often serve as a touchstone in which the organization's operations are vested and define the most appropriate future actions.

Strategic planning alongside well-developed vision and mission statements are the most appropriate tools to be used when managing projects (Panagiotidis, Tsolakis, & Tsigkas, 2020). proper planning means identifying what you need, how to utilized resources maximally, and perhaps establish a timeframe for completion of your project will play a vital role in determining the degree of success of a given project one engages in. with respect to the questions this discussion will focus on providing more insights about significant steps of strategic management and the overall importance of these steps, developing project vision and mission statement based on the current project, define a project charter and its essence in project development as well as providing a statement of emphasis to project team members.

1. Review and define the five strategic planning steps depicted in Exhibit 2-1 in the textbook on page 34. Based on the information, provide a statement of these steps' overall importance to your project team.

Strategic planning can be described as a rigorous process of establishing and documenting a direction in which one’s business ought to take through assessment and evaluation of both the current position of a business and where the business anticipates being in the near future. A strategic plan entails organizations management activities that are used to establish its focus energy and resources, strengthen operations, set priorities, as well as ensure that both the employees and stakeholders are all working towards a common goal as may be directed by the agreed and expected outcomes of a business (Panagiotidis, Tsolakis, & Tsigkas, 2020). Strategic planning helps an organization and project team managers adjust make changes to the manner in which some duties and functions are executed to ensure their organization progress project development progress remains on the right track and perhaps geared towards desired results. Five major steps are involved in strategic planning, and among these include:

Goal setting after identifying and determining your current strategic position. This is the most important step as it provides the basis of setting the stage for all work and the way forward. Determining where you are will be easy to set working mechanisms that will drive your business to where you want it to be (Panagiotidis, Tsolakis, & Tsigkas, 2020). Identifying key strategic issues, stakeholders, external and internal environment will be essential in project development and easy management. Worth noting is that having well-set goals at the beginning of the project will be equally important as it will help determine the following key point incorrect development. The first key factors to identify the provision of a clear definition of both short and long-term goals, the second thing will be identifying best approaches to deploy in order to accomplish set objectives, and the third aspect will be customizing project tasks and processes by defining and assigning each team members with specific duties to perform as the project progresses. The duties assigned must be realistic and match with the project mission and vision (LOTICH, 2019). During goal-setting, it will be wise to develop project mission and vision statements to guide team members to achieve particular desired goals.

The other step is project analysis with respect to the existing list of priorities. It is imperative to gather and analyze the information as this will facilitate a smooth transition of the project development from one stage to another. Perhaps information and data analysis will enhance a proper understanding of the projects' needs with reference to required outcomes alongside business sustainability (LOTICH, 2019). Both internal and external environments are equally analyzed to identify the impacts they may lead to the pose development and business at large. Additionally, it will be advisable also to analyze all the business-related strengths and weaknesses to ensure that mechanisms are put in place to mitigate any threats that might arise along the way.

Another important step in this scenario is strategy formulation, which must involve a review of the already compiled analysis. This step will also be good to identify available resources and perhaps determine which other resources might be necessary to obtain from outside or external sources. Organizations need bust to be given priorities as the strategy formulation is underway to ensure that all the requirements and the organization's trajectory are met. The fourth step will involve the implementation of the strategy. This is an imperative process for any project or business venture as it puts decisions into actions for the management processes. Implementation of the strategy will provide more insight and perhaps tell the executive whether more about the strategy's degree of alignment with current business functions (LOTICH, 2019). And if the implementation of the strategy does not align with business strategy, is realigned to fit into the business's mission and vision, Employees should be ready to execute their responsibilities. All the resources required for the implementation and success of the plan be availed in a good time.

The fifth and the last step will involve strategy continuous evaluation, assessments, and control. Some of the initiatives that need to be performed at this very last step include identifying and defining the parameters of the strategy to be measured after which strategy consistency review for both internal and external challenges, mesur8ing the performance if the strategy if undertaken to facilitate success if the strategy with respect to the anticipated outcomes and goals that were set in step one (Dwivedula, 2019).

2. Develop a vision and mission statement for the project team specific to the current project.

The mission and vision of our project will be:

Mission: improve people’s lives by identifying, prioritizing, and successfully implementing technology with appropriate alignment project’s strategic goals with or vision (Dwivedula, 2019).

Vision: create a workforce that takes care of our employees and meet the needs of our esteemed customers through:

· Provision of a supportive environment to both the community and our employees to facilitate project leadership, management.

· Inculcate exemplary practices that meet quality work and standards and deploy the best methodologies into our project management.

· Provide free and multiple communication channels to facilitate easy mitigation mechanism over arising issues, risks assessment as well as the provision of project status across all the departments.

· Building a project management base at the organizational level for effective support to be guaranteed.

3. Explain to the project team what a project charter is and why it is used.

Project charter is defined as a brief document that entirely describes the project by highlighting the project objectives, working framework, and the project's stakeholders. The essence of a project charter is to document: project objectives, project constraints, the risk associated with the project, main stakeholders of the project, reasons, and benefits of the projects. It elaborates on the project purpose, an aspect that can be utilized to make appropriate decisions. Essentially project charter guides every project participant to work towards one common goal, vision, and mission. (Dwivedula, 2019).

4. Review Exhibit 3.3 in the textbook, select any three charter elements you feel are more important and explain why.

As mentioned earlier, the charter documents all the elements that need to be considered as the project is underway. Among the important elements that are most valuable include, setting of the project start phase (Dwivedula, 2019). These elements officially authorize the project's existence and execution, as detailed in the project plan. It also acts as the reference point for future project adjustments if need be. Perhaps this element provides guidelines and a sense of purpose among the project team members. It defines who the project manager is, alongside their authority and ability to use resources at their disposal to ensure that project goals are met.

Project high-level requirement is an equally important element as it stipulates how the management should execute their responsibilities, authorities, and use of projects resources for the benefit of the whole project exercise (Belyh, 2019). It facilitates easy planning and aligns the project objectives to the organizational vision and mission. The third element project purpose and justification, which is important to the project as it provides direction and clearly defines project objectives and anticipated goals. It provides the base for effective leadership from the organization. It provides the reasons for the object and therefore makes project team members maintain their focus as they already know the purpose of the project.

5. Provide a statement of emphasis to your project team based on the information you provided in the previous three sections of the paper requirements.

As team members of this project, we need to remain disciplined, dedicated and focused, to ensure that we work collaboratively towards achieving our set goals, as stated in our strategic planning manual. Therefore, all members are expected to devote themselves and work full time for the benefits of the project and our organization at large. Any issues identified should be reported directly and immediately to the project manager (Belyh, 2019). Our responsibilities and duties are well and clearly defined to ensure that each of us concentrates our efforts on achieving certain project objectives. Since all of us are here to contribute our efforts conjointly, we are therefore expected to execute a high level of professional expertise to ensure we deliver to the highest level possible so as to meet our business target.
