The US Army is going though out a lot of changes, besides weapons, training and equipment, Army senior leaders are putting their eyes on how the soldiers perform during their daily routines. Therefore they come up with different types of program that will help every Soldier to perform in the highest level to stay healthy. The Go for Green program used color code to let the customer know the most nutritional and the high performance options. The tactical human optimization rapid rehabilitation and reconditioning (THOR3), this program is dedicated just to Army Special Operation Forces (SOF) were they have menu choices that are perfectly balanced to the need of those individuals in the SOF community.

The implementation of the Thor3 program in a regular dining facility is a littler challenge even though today's Army food service program is looking to have all soldiers to eat healthier, but since Thor3 is focus for the SOF community witch requires implementation based on duration and the type of foods consumed during the optimization of performance periods such as training and other physical activities. In addition of making a good promotion of the program is imperative that the nutritionist, the master trainer and the food advisor make a good implementation plan for a non SFO DFAC. One of the modifications I would indorse for my facility will be to combine the THOR3 along with the go for green since they have some similarities in some aspects. Another proposal could be a special protein shake station, were every soldier that is participating in the program can get what is requires in according with their standards for example within the last 60 minutes after a training session, a protein in liquid form that is high in leucine is recommended. It must be 20 to 25g to aid in the minimization of muscle synthesis. Furthermore nutritionist can help with the introduction of good proteins as a part of soldiers’ diet to prevent or reduce lean mass losses more so during prolonged periods of training. The time allocation as a method of implementation program is vital.

This program outside of the SOF community will have a lot of challenge for instance; the program is effective with the application of easily digested carbohydrates such as glucose and fructose to overcome a challenge of dehydration that might arise. Such problems occur due to the overconsumption of other types of stronger carbohydrates, such as grains and cereals during the training process (Cole et al., 2016). Soldiers tent to eat the non-nutritional meals, some times is hard for them to chose form the green (healthy) options that the facilities offers. Nutritionists in the Army must, therefore, advise Soldiers in physical training on the better foods taken during such training process to contribute to the success of thor3 program. Excessive hydration levels and balancing it has also been a significant challenge to the implementation of this program. Many nutritionists have failed to come to terms with this aspect due to the difference in an environment where SOF trains (Cole et al., 2016). To effectively overcome this challenge, many nutritionists have advised professionals to maintain an electrolyte balance. It ensures excessive hydration in the body for the realization of optimum body performance. The use of more water is a challenge in the training session since it not properly efficient in maintaining optimum performance with regards to thor3 program. Consumption of proteins and carbohydrates rightfully will assist in the success of this program.

Thor3 program is, therefore, a program that aids in the optimum performance of the body system and assists Soldiers and SOF to consume a better diet. Its implementation requires perfect timing and ideal foods such as carbohydrates, proteins, and also use of the proper amount of water to avoid overhydrating. Although it has challenges such as wrong timing and methods of application, use of perfect foods solves such problems. Every Soldier and SOF dealing with rapid rehabilitation and reconditioning should adopt such a technique with the assistance of nutritionist to achieve optimum body conditions and performance.
