She wishes to stay in her father's house. However, she owns a small house for Mr. Peter Butts. He hopes to marry Mrs. Delia Morrison. With the connections of girlhood, Mrs. Morrison had invited Mrs. Isabelle Carter Blake who had been a reputed social worker. The woman has been hardworking and she has been assisting the husband for 15 years. She had been engaged in the white folk's laundry. Sykes is the name of the husband and he had mistreated her. He had left most of the work for her and he had shown his unfaithfulness. The beatings were numerous along with the painful work of Sykes. They have brought them across an edge to a particular point. She had lost faith in the marriage. Delia has encountered the problem by facing difficulty in the marriage. The marriage is unbearable. She had encountered the abuse and she can get the divorce. They were not given guidance at a particular time under religious guidance. The story will be observed as the project of the fiction of feminist. Delia will be observed to play a feminist role compared to the passive. For Sykes, she discussed the abuse in the best possible way.

At this time, at the beginning of 1920, the women had the underprivileged by race and gender. In historic times, it was tough for daily women to lead a life and obtain a great job. The reason behind it is sexism. Those who have added racism, they will find a structure of the problems. We have encountered the problems of Delia. The writer had made the argument. Delia has not been a housewife who has lost hope. They have got abused, but the black woman had been independent and strong. They have come across different obstacles. The idea has been supported by the fact that the main character named Delia has been regarded as an independent and strong woman. She had found herself in the last part of the patriarchal society. There were a lot of advantages for men and it reduces the social status of women. Hurston has been experienced in certain issues. By profession, she is an author of African-American origin. This is a reason for deciding writing "Sweat". In the short story, we have come across the procedure of empowering feminist movement based on the rights of the women.

In the short story of Zora Neale Hurston, the woman's story has been shared in a new way. It has come to our notice that violence on women and the resistance of women for creating a patriarchal society. The husband had shown violence for the wife in different forms. The forms are sexual, physical and psychological. The theory has been utilized in the theory of Beauvoir in 2012. The problem has been analyzed by the researcher following the feminist style (Snaith, 2016). The oppression has been felt by the women. They encountered resistance as they struggle in the existence of the women. This has been reflected in the primary character of the short story.
