The DHS was established shortly after 9/11. It brings together 22 different agencies to protect the U.S., “to ensure a homeland that is safe, secure, and resilient against terrorism and other hazards." Today’s catastrophic events include wildfires, floods, church killings and fires, race riots, and cyber-attacks.

1. Examine, select, and describe one natural and one manmade disaster in the U.S. homeland and the NRF construct and FEMA responsibilities.

2.  Discuss how the NRF and FEMA were applied to the incidents and the success or failure of the outcomes.
