Social Media And Its Side Effects

Attention Getter:Plastic surgery has become an extremely popular trend throughout the past

years of the American culture. There are many reasons why people get plastic surgery, however,

our society is the first to judge an individual for getting a procedure done. The controversy

regarding plastic surgery is extremely relevant and has received major attention through

celebrities, television, and social media. However, many individuals are unaware that there is a

difference between both plastic surgery and cosmetic surgery. Plastic surgery is used for medical

purposes or to reconstruct an issue; on the other hand, cosmetic surgery is used to enhance the

appearance of a person. Although there is a great difference between both procedures, there are

many benefits to undergo them. While some believe plastic and cosmetic surgery are costly and

risky, others believe it is important for medical purposes and self-esteem. Many people associate

Audience Relevance:plastic surgery negatively throughout the years due to the amount of

money that is typically spent on it. According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic

Surgery, “more than 12 billion dollars are spent on surgical and nonsurgical procedures in

2013”. State Thesis:That is a tremendous amount of money spent for procedures. This has

become bigger for many reasons. Such as, celebrities spending money on plastic surgery. The

kardashian’s family has spent millions of dollars on plastic surgery the biggest problem in our

society is that nowadays all girls comparing themselves to social media and has become the

biggest problem in our society.

Preview main ideas:that people obtain and others that people are born with. Beauty is one that

you are born with but in the modern world it has become something that is also obtainable. In the

present many people search for ways to improve themselves and have opted for plastic surgery as

a way of becoming a better version…

Extent of the Problem:The reasons why people want to get plastic surgery are many and varied,

from car accident victims to people who indeed just want to make themselves more attractive. As

you move into writing the body of your essay, consider the causes of plastic surgery, as well as

both the advantages and disadvantages. This doesn’t mean you have to be neutral on the topic or

wishy-washy in your argument, but it’s important to recognise that both sides have legitimate

points. For the most part, plastic surgery isn’t needed or necessary. It can be dangerous just like

any other surgery. Do you really want to run the risk of dying just to have bigger boobs or a

prettier face? Apart from people who legitimately need it, like accident victims or people who

are genuinely suffering physical pain, plastic surgery shouldn’t be approved lightly, or done

simply for vanity purposes. People will be much better off learning to love their imperfect bodies

for what they are.

Causes of the problem: In the case of plastic surgery it is mainly used to treat defects after birth

as well as enhance the skin whereby blemishes, acne scars, growths or birthmarks could be

removed. Cosmetic surgery is just to make a person look younger or enhance their appearance.

State current solution: Originally, going under the knife was for those people who had medical

problems such as removing something unsightly. For instance, losing weight can result in excess

skin which is not just ugly but can be uncomfortable. Since then, however, many people have

found that they wanted certain parts of their body improved for cosmetic reasons. Over the

intervening years this need to look and feel good about oneself has not just become a fad but has

become a national obsession. Not just that though, as the need seems to be affecting younger and

younger people.

But is it really necessary? Is natural beauty no longer important? Do you feel that the only way to

solve a problem is to cut it off or straighten it? No one has perfect skin or a perfect body. This

may be an aspiration, but it isn’t truly possible. That said, for some people removing so-called

imperfection can enhance their self worth.

Present personal Solution: In my opinion, everyone has their own beauty instead of comparing

yourself with all the celebrities in the social media we can fix too many things in our life.

Real Estate Thesis: t’s said beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but sometimes the beholder is

you looking in the mirror. And sometimes you don’t like what you see. For some, buying a new

outfit or change of make-up suffices, but for others taking more drastic measures seems to be the

answer.

Summarize main idea: The numbers of individuals electing these surgeries are growing rapidly

each year. Much of this rapid growth is because of advances in technology that have made

plastic surgery techniques both safer and more affordable, as well as cutting down on recovery

time. Cosmetic surgery improves body image and self-esteem and reconstructive surgery fixes

irregularities such as hereditary disorders, birth defects, or other health issues. These surgeries

are an extremely popular method to enhance self-esteem but there are risks an individual should

know before having a surgical procedure.

Provide Closure: is important for the patient not to assume or expect people to be pleased with

the new image. Patients may experience unwanted attention or disappointment when changing

their appearance from close friends, family and the workplace. The changes to physical

appearance may cause social challenges involving disapproving looks; it may cause the patient to

feel isolated or bitter towards others.

Appeal to Action: Challenges such as these may be hard to manage emotionally and mentally

for several reasons. One reason is that surgery results may not appear until days or weeks after

the surgery. Patients should realize their appearance will be worse before a significant difference

is seen. Another reason is postoperative depression which can be common with surgery.

Although surgeons are confident that a surgery is successful, some patients endure feelings of

misery and despair that may last weeks after the surgery.
