1. My Zine will have 8 pages.

2. I will use one sheet of white printer paper, colored pencils, black markers, family photographs (or hand-drawn illustrations if photos are unavailable), and printed words or quotes to make my Zine.

3. My 3 credible sources are (MLA format):

American Cancer Society. Cancer Facts & Figures 2025. American Cancer Society, 2025, www.cancer.org.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. About Youth Violence. U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, www.cdc.gov/youthviolence/index.html.

National Institute of Mental Health. Coping with Grief and Loss. U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, www.nimh.nih.gov.

4. I will write on the topic of how losing close family members at a young age changes a person's life, and my claim for my argument is:

Children who experience the loss of a parent or sibling need stronger emotional support, counseling, and caring adults because early grief can affect their mental health, relationships, and future if they are left to cope with it alone.

5. My key points for my argument are:

· Losing a parent or sibling during childhood can have lifelong emotional effects.

· Children often hide their grief because they do not know how to express it.

· Family members, schools, and communities should provide counseling and emotional support after a major loss.

· Talking about grief and asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness.

· My own experiences of losing my father to cancer when I was six and my oldest brother to gun violence four years later show why supporting grieving children is so important.

6. My visual elements will include:

· Black-and-white family photographs

· A childhood timeline showing both losses

· Handwritten journal-style entries

· Broken heart and ribbon illustrations

· Pencil sketches with touches of blue and gold to represent hope after loss

· Meaningful quotes about healing and perseverance

7. The tone of my Zine will be:

Reflective, honest, and hopeful. I want readers to understand how painful childhood grief can be while also showing that healing is possible with love, support, and time. My zine will have a scrapbook-style design that combines personal memories with encouraging messages so readers can connect emotionally with my story.
