PEERS POST:

Hello everyone,

My name is Alyssa Campbell, and I am a 22-year-old mom of two boys in New Hampshire. I enjoy playing piano, singing, writing, drawing, painting, really anything that can get my artistic side going! I am currently employed as a paraprofessional at an elementary school in the town I live in. I am working towards a psychology degree and have future plans of becoming a children's counselor. My childhood was wiped away from me due to my parent's toxic and detrimental choices which has suede my passion for adolescent development and emotional intelligence.

I am eager to start my first science class, however my nerves are not necessarily at ease. Science was my worst subject in high school when it came down to certain aspects. But I am extremely interested and fully engaged in the textbook already and have high hopes for this class! Part of my interest stems from the fact that we significantly see environmental damage in the world around us today. For instance, global warming is a detrimental issue that needs to be tackled but I am not confidently informed about it.

New Hampshire has faced negative environmental impact from global warming and unclean waters due to pollution (Our Daily Planet, 2020). In 2020, New Hampshire had an annual increase of 2.7 degrees (Our Daily Planet, 2020). Increasing temperature has led to shorter winters, heavy storms, and the water level to rise resulting in floods on coastal areas (Our Daily Planet, 2020). The water in New Hampshire has become polluted due to chemicals from Air Force Base landfills called PFAS (Our Daily Planet, 2020). Without action from large populations the planet is going to continue to get worse.
