Option 2 How gender might impact patterns of communication

Step 1 - Describe the findings. (100 to 150 words) – Due week 2

The questions asked for both male and female was their take on the price rice of gas. The conversation with the male started out to blame the prices of the gas on the current situation with the war between Ukraine and Russia as the fault of the gas prices. The male also used certainty as if he was definite the increase of the price was the war according to (Bevan, 2000). The male also went to blame the United State government for the prices going up as well. He then went into deep conversation which got off topic from the price of gas. He then blame Putin stating he was the big dog on campus for the whole situation even for the a machine going offline for a previous nucleus meltdown and several people lost their lives because of the meltdown that happen in Russia and several cities. He used several words of certainty hedging statement, and, argumentative language. His conversation on gas and the current war lasted over three minutes because he stated he needed me to understand where he was coming from.

The female conversation started out with the same question on how she felt about the increase in the gas price. She stated she was having a rough time because she drove over 300 miles round trip daily for work. She was more aggressive towards the conversation then I thought she would be. She used flowery words to describe her feeling on the gas prices she even used vulgarity to express her current anger. She even engaged another woman in the conversation, which lead the conversation about the current war. She stated how she didn’t understand why the prices rising when we only received 13% of our oil from Russia. She engaged our friend by asking the friend don’t she agree with what she was saying. The female conversation was within the 3 minute timeframe verse that of the male. I’ve notice woman do talk sometimes if uncertainty verses the male strong willed, possessive, argumentative communication methods (Bevan, 2000). The male was more assertive during than the female. When you communicate with others, your attention is not only focused on the words that are said but also on the characteristics of the other communicator’s voice, their body language and physical distance from you, and even the environment in which the interaction is occurring (Bevan, 2000). The male and female body language was visibly portraying how they both felt about the conversation we was having,
