Penal Code 187- CA Murder Law
A penal code are codes of law that define crimes, offenses and their potential punishment.
Penal Code 187 within California specifically defines the intention of killing another person.
The California Legislative website offers the legal definition for Penal Code 187. It states that (a) Murder is the unlawful killing of a human being, or fetus with malice aforethought. Within this penal code any individual who is found guilty of committing murder shall be punished by imprisonment or death. The penalties for each individual case is established within the court by proving murder based on these elements: (a) individual committed an act that led to the death of another person (b) the individual acted with malice intent (c) the individual killed without a lawful reason or justification to the action.
