The 3 types of cloud computing services are-

IaaS (Infrastructure as a service)- This provides services like networking, pay as per use storage and virtualization. It provides an alternative for the on- premise infrastructure, hence saves companies from the expenditure over on-site resources. IaaS is delivered over internet. It eliminates the dependence of the company over external IT contractor as these platforms can be accessed by companies themselves. Its highly flexible, cost effective and accessible by multiple users (Sala-Zárate & Colombo-Mendoza, 2012).

IaaS examples are: Rackspace, AWS EC2, Google Compute Engine.

PaaS (Platform as a service) – This service provides the software and hardware tools for developing applications over the internet. Basically, this service is useful for the developers for building applications or software. Thus, it saves a lot of time of the developers as they don’t require to start the work while creating applications or writing extensive codes. Its helpful in creating unique applications in lesser budget. This platform is also accessible by multiple users, and can be run without any extensive knowledge of system administration. Users can focus on the creativity while developing the application, rather than handling updates of the software or security patches (Казакова & Грабовский, 2014).

PaaS examples are: Windows Azure, Apache Stratos, AWS Elastic Beanstalk, Magneto Commerce Cloud

Saas (Software as a service) – This service provides subscription of softwares over the internet, for a subscription fee. It saves the companies from installing or running the applications on their computer. It can be accessed from any device, anywhere in the world, anytime if the internet connection is available. The data related to the account is also stored online, so it provides the safety to the data from getting lost. There is no need for an IT specialist to install the software or for updating it. Mostly these subscriptions come along with compliance, maintenance, and security services, which otherwise can prove to be very costly and time consuming for any company using on-premise software. It provides the smooth run of the software with minimal input. The biggest example of this service are the email servers, which all of us use without worrying about the settings or updates (Walraven, Truyen & Joosen, 2013).

SaaS examples are : Google Apps, Hubspot, Salesforce.
