Length: 1000 to 1500 words (excluding Works Cited and Annex). You will be penalized if your paper has less than 1000. However, you are allowed to go over 1500.
Worth: 15% of final grade ( You must obtain 60% on this evaluation to pass the class )
Presentation: Original title, basic information (College, teacher, student, date), page numbers, justified text, double space.
Your final report will be the result of several assignments and labs completed during the semester. However, it constitutes a logical and coherent paper of its own. It should contain the following sections:
1. Introduction
· Introduce your topic, research question, you thesis (answer to the question) and the structure of the paper.
2. Condensed Literature Review
· Incorporate the literature review you have already written, editing it so it flows well with the rest of your report. You will have to summarize your Literature Review assignment. This section should not be more than 1 page.
3. Methodology (Content Analysis)
· Explain how you completed your content analysis. Which documents did you use and why? How did you use coding sheets? What were you looking for (categories, number of words, expressions, etc.)? The reader should get a sense of how you proceeded to analyze the primary sources (newspaper articles) and what you were looking for.
4. Presentation of your findings
· What are the results of you content analysis? Do not make an argument here; just present as objectively as possible what you have found in the documents you analyzed. Focus on the patterns you have found and how your topic is generally being portrayed in newspapers.
5. Analysis of your findings
· What do the results tell you about the phenomenon you analysed? Are newspapers presentations of you topic coherent with existing research? Compare both and provide possible explanation for the differences or similitudes found.
6. Conclusion
· Conclude with a few thoughts on the significance of your findings and your analysis.
7. A bibliography (Works Cited)
· Should start on a separate page, and should contain all the sources (academic or not) you consulted in the course of your research. Should be in proper MLA format.
· A minimum of 3 academic sources is required (more is better!)
8. Annex
