Final Project: Career/Interview Presentation (Instructions)

Read the instructions that follow in order to understand the parameters for your final project. Submit your finished project to the Assignment.

Create a presentation in PowerPoint or another presentation software of your choice (such as Google Slides or Keynote) that reflects the knowledge and skills you have gained from this course and applies your learning towards your career.

The intended audience for your presentation should be either your current manager or a hiring manager for a position you are interested in. For the purposes of this final project, imagine that you are going to give this presentation in a job interview or while asking your current employer for a promotion.

Your presentation should be 10-12 slides in length, not including the title slide or the references slide, if applicable. Keep the information on each slide brief (three to five bullet points per slide is a recommendation). This is a professional presentation so you should use appropriate images, transitions, and animations. Utilize the notes feature so that you can outline what your talking points would be for each slide. Alternatively, you may wish to record or narrate your presentation using the features in powerpoint. Here is some information on how to record audio in PowerPoint:

Your presentation should adhere to APA format in terms of layout and citation.

This link provides some guidance on how to create a presentation in APA style:

Near the beginning of your PowerPoint presentation, identify which career or position you are interested in. You may need to conduct some research on that career so you can tailor your presentation to this particular career. You may wish to use CareerBeam, a self-paced online tool for career management that allows you to clarify career goals, create a professional resume and cover letter, and search for jobs. As an NLU student, you have free access to CareerBeam through the NLU Portal. In the remainder of the presentation, illustrate in how you can apply what you have learned in this course to the position or career you’ve identified.

It is recommended that you review your journal entry prompts and your discussion post responses for each unit to help you decide what you would like to address in the presentation. Here are some additional questions from each module to consider as a starting point.
