After viewing the statistics presented in the document titled "M6 Activity- 2010 Portage County Statistics", I noticed that the table documents birth, death, and disease events among the residents of Portage County in 2010. The total population of Portage County in 2010 was 161,419. The table shows the population among different age groups such as the population of people 17 years of age and younger was 33,678 and the population of people 65 and older was 20,819 showing that there were more people ages 17 and younger than there were people aged 65 and older. Measures that may be important to calculate include age specific birth rates. For example, the amount of live births to women aged 15-17 years of age was 25 which is 1.71% of the total live births. I got this number by dividing the number of live births to women aged 15-17 years of age (25) by the total amount of live births (1462). 25/1462=0.01709 x 100= 1.71.

This document begins showing the overall population for these statistics at 161,419. There were 1,462 live births in Portage County in 2010. The table then goes on to break down the live births to various ages of women. It lists the total fetal and infant deaths as well. There were 1,388 overall deaths, which is then broken down further into age groups and causes of death. Some health and population measures that I think would be important to consider would be crude birth weight as well as crude mortality rate. In order to calculate crude birth rate, I would divide the total live birth rate by the total population which would equal 0.0090 or 9.0. I would take the same steps for mortality rate, divide the total number of deaths by the total population which would equal 859.9.
