Research Report

You will turn in a research report of 350 - 700 words plus a works cited page. Follow the graphic organizer below to organize your paper.

Your paper should:

focus on a topic related to animal intelligence (chosen from your research plan)

have an introduction; body paragraphs that use examples, facts, etc.to support the thesis; and a conclusion; FIVE paragraphs total

use at least three sources

include in-text citations

include a works cited page that lists all sources used in the paper

use correct writing conventions (spelling, grammar)

Introduction: Tell me about the animal you researched, but don’t include research yet. Remember to include a thesis statement that hints at what you’re going to explain in the body paragraphs.

Recommended starter: Aren’t (animals’ name, like dogs) interesting? / Do you know how smart a(n) (animal) is?

Body paragraph 1: Include at least one source and what you learned from that source.

Recommended starter: According to [author’s name or article name]…

Body paragraph 2: Include at least one source and what you learned from that source.

Body paragraph 3: Include at least one source and what you learned from that source.

Recommended starter: In the final source, I found out that…

Conclusion: Summarize your three body paragraphs.
