module 1
Job analysis is the foundation for many aspects of I/O psychology, so using the best type of job analysis is very important. When is it better to use a person-oriented job analysis approach and when is it better to use a job-oriented approach? Use the job you chose in Activity 1 and explain what approach you chose in Activity 2 and why.
Activity 1
In this assignment, quality assurance specializing in chemistry will be the position I will be interested in. The quality assurance personnel is tasked to ensure all products and services meet established standards set by the company or set by a country ("QA Technician Job Description", n.d.). Chemical Quality assurance specializes in performing rigorous quality assurance of samples such as processed food, medicine, or any other processed or manufactured products. Some chemists are tasked to calibrate and perform maintenance on the laboratory equipment. In addition, chemists are responsible for maintaining strong overall quality control of manufactured and processed products made by the company complying with performance, reliability, and consumers' expectations.
Another purpose of having chemists is that they are significant in water testing to detect any chemical contaminants such as metals present in the water. This testing determines which water contains metals that have positive impacts when consumed and the ones with chemicals that pose health problems to the consumers. They are also important individuals in soil testing to determine the alkalinity or acidity of the soil. Frequent soil testing will identify which variety of plants is suitable or does well in certain areas than the others. Chemists use techniques such as mass chromatography, high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), mass spectrometer, and among others to conduct their sample testing ("QA Technician Job Description", n.d.).
I chose this position because I have been seeing standardization marks on most commodities and products that we use and on many products especially consumable products, there is always a section on nutritional facts which I have been wishing to know how they are
conducted and who does it. This is an interesting field because as a chemist, one will better understand the compositions or elements found in certain commodities and give recommendations on which is good and which is not.

Activity 2
For the chemical quality assurance job, the appropriate job analysis is a combination of both person-oriented and job-oriented job analysis techniques. Person oriented approach is mainly preferable, particularly when the analytical and theoretical units are patterns of operating factors rather than a person’s variables while a job oriented approach mainly focuses on the various job outcomes and the several factors facilitating those outcomes. As such, the quality assurance job revolves around these two approaches since it mainly entails the adherence to various safety procedures and federal regulations in addition to undertaking rigorous quality assurance of samples and being responsible for calibrating and performing the maintenance on lab equipment, all of which are factors facilitating outcomes.
An essential function of the quality assurance job is ensuring that goods and services meet the established standards set by the company or country (" QA Technician Job Description ", n.d.).Chemical quality assurance majorly specializes in undertaking vigorous quality assurance samples such as medicine, processed foods, or any manufactured products. Additionally, some have the duty to ensure the effective maintenance of laboratory equipment.
The type of information gathering method that is appropriate for the chemical quality assurance job and a combination of both personal oriented and job oriented approaches is inventories. Inventory data is data that is collected on actual processes and materials utilized for a particular product that is being accessed. As for the case of the chemical assurance job, inventory data would be relevant in sampling data on goods that meet the set standards. Inventories are advantageous because they aid improve efficiency and productivity and also lead to enhanced customer retention due to the presence of a well-structured inventory management system. On the other hand, inventories are disadvantageous because of increased bureaucracy in many organizations.
