The ModMeters Company need an appropriate strategic plan to aid in incorporating new business strategies, incorporate the IT initiatives in its entire enterprise, for instance, improving business process, catering for auditing, operations and maintenance needs as well as connect the intended IT systems with the business objectives (McKeen & Smith, 2017). The ModMeters’ executives should strive at ensuring that the IT and Business resources are properly put in place so that they add value to the enterprise. The efforts of gradually automating almost every business aspect from finance to accounting and prioritizing IT projects on the basis of ROI are not enough as there is a need for ensuring that the automated systems meet the current technological demands.

To start with, the stakeholders should develop an IT strategy capable of aligning IT Capabilities with business requirements. The iterative process comprises of a documented and approved process needs to be frequently revisited. It is important as it sets future direction for IT to function in the organization attributed to IT budgeting and maximizing returns on investments. The strategy addresses several sub-elements including infrastructure, application, integration, sourcing, servicing and innovation strategies. Secondly, MM needs to analyze strategic goals based on SWOT analysis which will create a foundation of key prioritization of business requirements. The third process includes assessing IT implications, developing strategic initiatives and imperatives to assess whether the strategies chosen will add value to the organization (Grünig & Kühn, 2015). Basically, Modmeters failed to prioritize the business requirements against IT resources. Finally, there is a need to perform a gap analysis based on the IT initiatives and the current IT Portfolio.

Executing this plan correctly will form a comprehensive understanding of the expectations and end users, major issues which are confronting the ModMeters organization and reviewing application and infrastructure strategy (Cannon, 2016). Besides, it will assess the IT processes, organization skills and structure based on IT as well as conduct a benchmark and develop IT roadmap.
