Step 1: Personal Truths Table

In the left column of the worksheet found below for this exercise, list what you believe are your most important and deepest beliefs. These could range from very individual values, such as statements about family, spirituality, love, respect for others, wealth, learning, and personal achievement, to more global values, such as democracy, freedom, justice, and global welfare.

Once you have completed the list, think deeply about how you acquired each value or belief if you haven’t done so already. Was it from one of your parents or guardians? Was it from a friend whom you haven’t spoken to for 20 years? Was it from a teacher or coach? Maybe it was part of a passing conversation with a business acquaintance. Was it from a stranger, like someone who stopped along the road to help you with your disabled vehicle? Complete the worksheet with at least seven beliefs and sources.

Step 2: Essay Reflection

Write a reflection of the information in your table. Describe how the sources affected your personal truths and deepest beliefs, either or good or bad. Explain how your experiences relate back to the information in the readings or video for this week. Speculate how this relates to how leaders are developed, as well as the concepts of individuality and insight. The essay should be 1700 words and should include at least five (5) citations. The sections should be clearly marked with headings so that your instructor knows which points you are addressing. Follow the guidelines for APA writing style. The title page and references page do not count towards the minimum word amount for this assignment.
