Q: What is the formatting requirement for the written report?

• Word limit: (write it in a bracket at the end of report) ~ 2,500 words (does NOT include references and appendices)

• Font: ✔Times New Roman, 12 points ✔Arial, 12 points

• Margin: 1 inch each side

• Paragraph: 1.5 space. Justified

• APA Referencing.

Q: How to start the assignment?

You may start with the given keywords, then try other related keywords to perform the literature search.

Q: What to include for Introduction?

• Define the term / topic (refer to past studies in literature)

• Importance of knowing this topic in Marketing (e.g. your topic can be the role of xxxxxx in retail marketing)

• The method / source of retrieving the journal articles.

• The number of articles being reviewed

• Summary of the main findings (a brief one) • The structure / organization of this report

Q: What is Synthesis of the reviewed literature?

• A synthesis is a written discussion that draws on one or more sources. It follows that your ability to write synthesis depends on your ability to infer relationships among sources.

• An example of synthesis is when you read several journal articles and use all of the information to come up with some ideas on your topic.

Q: Should we paraphrase the sentences/literature reviewed?

• Yes.

• You must paraphrase the sentences when you write the report.

• However, you may include the original sentences in your work sheet of literature review.

Q: What is considered as a good synthesis?

• Ensure the accuracy of the synthesis

• The synthesis should connect past studies to present the main ideas.

• At least 90% of the literature must be within the past 20 years.

• Find reliable sources of information, preferably those articles in ABDC list.

Q: What is the requirement for Conclusion?

• You are expected to:

• Summarise the main points presented in the synthesis

• Provide recommendations to retailers based on your main findings

• Ensure the conclusion is consistent with the previous sections

Q: What to note for references?

• APA referencing style

• All references in the reference list must be cited in the report

• All citations in the report must be listed in the reference list

Q: What is required for the work sheet of the literature review?

• There is an example in the work sheet on how to record your reviewed literature.
