The responses for the assessment in chapter 10 were slightly different from the self-assessment. The observers responded positively to having personal relationships and empathy just like in the self-assessment. For example, they responded positively to being available for personal help from the followers and caring about the well-being of others and their interests. Averagely, both the observers’ assessment and the self-assessment responded positively to holding high ethical standards and putting value on honesty above profits. The responses from the observers and the self-assessment generally leaned to being selfless and ethical in all their activities.
The reason for the slight average difference is because the observers used a blended form of leadership styles. They used a servant form of leadership which is characterized by putting the needs of others before them. This trait was present in the observers’ responses when they responded positively to putting the needs of others first and serving the community in various ways. The empathic nature of their responses as well as caring about their followers’ personal needs, problems and careers is drawn from a transformational style of leadership as well (Budur, & Poturak, 2021). These types of leadership are also reflected on the emphasis put on ethical standards by the observers.
This information is useful in the development of my leadership plan because of the different leaderships styles used together. The information gained can be used in the leadership development plan to determine which kinds of leadership styles are compatible and which ones are not. This way, the effectiveness of the plan would be boosted because the right types of leadership would be included in the development and the incompatible styles of leadership would be avoided. The distinction between the types of leaderships that are compatible with each other is important because it determines the effectiveness and success of the development plan.
