Charles Blackmon

My name is Charles Blackmon Jr., better known by all my family and friends as CJ. I am a 2022 graduate from Faulkner University in Montgomery, Alabama with a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management and Recreational sports. The thing I find interesting about myself is that even though I have a degree in this, I am not interested in it anymore. I am more interested in ITT. There for I started my career in a cable and internet company as a Field Tech II. In my spare time I like to fish and hunt. I would like to one day have my own business making fishing lures with my brand name. I also like to do cosmetic work on automobiles. It's a pass time for me when I do have the opportunity to do it.

As far as opportunity cost of attending college, I think it's the best decision for any and everyone that is seeking to advance their careers and make a great future for themselves and the family. The cost compared to the opportunity does not measure up to be the same. You will be afforded the opportunity of a lifetime. For me this opportunity of attending college sets the bar high for my kids when I have some. I will be able to pass down the torch to them. I one day plan to open my own business. This is why this class is important to me . I can get the understanding of how the economy work.

Part I: Greetings class,

My name is Kyle and I am from Pennsylvania originally and currently live in the Fort Walton Beach, FL area. My career in the Air Force has taken me to many different areas of the country and the world but by far this one is my favorite. My job consists of many different aspects, but the ones that drove me to work on completing a BA degree is the potential to grow and learn in aspects the military does not teach me. My hobbies are fishing, hunting, Jeep riding, and anything outdoors. My reasons for taking this course span everything from developing a better understanding of the world and how economies function, to how I can make changes and influence change speaking intelligently about why those changes should be made in a resource constrained environment. I hope to gain a better understanding of economics, and the terms and concepted that are widely accepted in the field.

Part II:

This week we have been tasked to discuss what the opportunity cost of attending college is for me, and explain the concepts we have learned with our reading. It is important to address that opportunity cost is what the alternative choice costs in versus what the actual choice was.(Fernando, 2022) When I think the opportunity cost for me attending college the main one that stands out is time. The time to devote to my school work instead of choosing other alternative ways to spend it. What comes off as nebulous to me is that the opportunity cost is the best alternative decision for me to spend my time. It is difficult to point to one since it would be subject to that time and space the question is being asked. As an example if it is during a sport season I enjoy, then the opportunity cost could be the time I would be spending watching a sports event. This is an interesting concept and I look forward to learning more and clarifying this as the course progresses.
