Q1. Explain the characteristics of a project. What are the dimensions of project management? Discuss the importance of those dimensions and provide examples (20 points)
the characteristics of a project are typically having a defined start and a defined end. The characteristics of a project will have included four phases: defining, planning, executing, and closing. Moreover, in the project should have five characteristics. first, the objective should be specific and constant. second, the Existence of a life span with the beginning and end of the project (cycle). third, Often, many players participate in the project within departments and professionals. fourth, In the project, actions are taken that have not been done before. finally, that the time, cost, and performance of this project be specific so that the project is based on them in order to finish better and more successfully. In order for the project to be more successful and unique. We should follow the consist of projects characteristics: defining, planning, directing, monitoring and controlling.
There are two types of dimensions of project management which are technical and sociocultural.
-The technical dimension works by making plans and schedules such as MS projects and Gantt charts. It is considered as the science part that requires logic for the project.
- The sociocultural dimension works by looking at the behaviors and it is working way of the people who are doing the project and the people who buy the supplies which is considered the art and that is more complicated that the technical dimension.
These dimensions are important because the unique and great project is to balance between those 2, planning and monitoring every stage of the technical dimension require us to notice every single thing that we prepare and make it ready to execute for example, preparing schedules and report for any status. From the other side sociocultural need focusing on control and mange teamwork and individuals work require us to have great working in the project management for example, solving problems and we can negotiate about the project to make it butter.
Q2. Prepare the following “Project Defining” requirements (2.1; 2.2 and 2.3) for a new “ Cultural and Heritage City of Kuwait” project. (Project total duration will be one year )
