Assignment Six: Group Paper/Project

Virtual teams are increasingly common in our interconnected global workplace. In this

course, you have learned many issues related to and different approaches to

organization design.

For this assignment you will propose the most effective way to structure a virtual team

to meet the goals of 1) team member satisfaction and growth and 2) producing a result

that achieves the team’s work objectives.

1. Based on course concepts and your research (and citing them), your analysis should

address the following issues:

1. differentiation 2. integration 3. formalization 4. centralization 5. mechanistic versus organic designs 6. contingency factors

2. Provide a set of logical recommendations for the structure of the virtual team, citing

your analysis in support.

Your paper should include at least eight references; five of the references should be scholarly journals. You should use sources from the UMUC virtual library databases. Two excellent sources of articles are ABI/Inform and Business Source Complete. Do not use Wikipedia. Do not Google the topic--use the UMUC virtual library databases.
