Today’s social media and the latest technology have turned the communication power that comprises of public relations to the users of social media. In result, what have happened are, public relations which were our traditional relations their responsibility has been taken by the social media users which is dependent upon legitimacy, interactivity and user’s social stake.

Internet has been considered as one of the major development that has a strong impact in the history of humanity. More like a telephone that allows us to expand out networks beyond that where people thought that it could be impossible. It allows us to communicate with family and friends anywhere in this world as far as they have an internet connection. This advent of media has shifted many lives of individuals. Though there are several benefits that social media is been providing in order to communicate but still besides this, there are negative effects which are actually damaging the benefits of social media.

Social media has been offering several different ways in order to encroach the feeling of loneliness, but it has also destroyed quality of the relationships. Ability for manufacturing identity that one puts forward on their social accounts in order to wipe away all of the factors that are responsible to solidify and deepen the relationships. Now what people do is they start focusing of their best things that are happening in their lives and they set their profiles so that they can be seen by others and mostly they try their best to hide signs of emotional insecurity, weakness and conflict. In result, people gets closer to each other but this becomes successful only when they start interacting face to face. When it comes to social media: people only want to show their self as if they are happy without having any conflict.

When it comes to connecting people, social media plays an important role. It is explained clearly that how social media is playing role for enhancing the interpersonal relationships.

According to a social media user, "Using something like Skype brings people closer when they can't always physically see each other. Texting people through Facebook or any other texting platform allows us to be in contract with anyone anywhere in the world, no matter how far they are away from us, at any point in time."(Ultius, 2015)

Defining the scope of Social Media, there are several possibilities in order to communicate. It has been become so easy to keep ourselves in touch with family and friends. Now finding our old friends is also not an issue. Facebook and other applications provide such facility to reconnect and relive. Social media has started to focus not only on supplementing the existing relationships or to sustain the virtual relations, but it has focused also how the virtual relations are converted into relationships in this empirical world.

It can be concluded here that; the only purpose of technology is to serve the quality friendship values and interpersonal connections. When considering the other side of the social media, one of the social media user has explained this in her very own way, "You always see a bunch of friend groups hanging out together when each of them is caught up in their digital devices; they constantly want to check what everyone's tweeting, what they are doing, instead of talking to the friends they're sitting with, or holding conversation and engaging with each other."(Ultius, 2015)

This is how; social media has affected our relationships. In reality, the real and actual relationship demands one to be present at one’s friend and this requires physical conversation that means face-to-face communication without getting our self-distracted while competing to the demands of other’s attention. This is something where social media is incapable of.

For an ordinary person, no. of personal relationships needs to perform function in the society is at the bottom of the planet’s history. This is the era where, one can order their groceries, online banking, sending gifts, all can be done online. It can be seen that in future, we’ll communicate through this technology only by restricting the group of our family and friends. For example, nowadays people living in apartments for many years don’t know and recognize who their neighbors are. There are also people who just visit their family for few weeks after every year.

Technology has affected our relations in many ways. This technology has been developed by man according to his needs but eventually it has been turned into luxury to comfort while considering the environment side effects and relationships. People have started living their virtual lives rather than their real one. Shifting our trend when one meets other on street to saying a simple “Hi” on a phone call. Concluding it in one line is that “technology affects relationship by missing touch ology.” (Shareef, 2015)
