Professional Certification
Professional certification is a simple certification that indicates that the holder is qualified for that certain task or job.
Professional certifications help managers and companies to evaluate potential candidates and analyze their job performance
A professional certification defines the holder as a committed and a superior person
The certificate helps the holder to increase their professional creditability and prestige at their jobs
Mechanical Certifications
Mechanical engineering is a vast major, as it contains many fields and sub-fields
Here are the list of general certifications that any/most mechanical engineer could achieve

As a college student that will be graduated soon, I believe the professional certification that suits me the most is “Fundamental Engineering (FE)”
FE is a professional certification that is designed especially for the recent graduates in the engineering major
FE polishes the graduates resume as soon as they pass the exams
FE focuses more on USA and Canada, and is recently needed in many developed countries
FE is provided by NCEES (National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying) in the US
When to apply for the Certification
It is advised to apply for the FE certification as a senior college student, i.e., 3-4 months before the graduation
Personally, I believe that the best opportunity to apply for the FE certification is immediately after graduation, in which my find will still be fresh, as well as that there will be enough time to focus on the FE exams only
However, if a conflict occurs after granduation, whether due to time or other reasons, FE is always available to exam at anytime and any day, no matter the age
Involved Institutions
FE exam is NCEES’ responsibility, in which any FE exams that will be applied should be through it
The conditions needed by FE and NCEES for the student to apply is through certified center or university in Saudi Arabia

Certification Requirements
The requirements to apply for the certification is as follows:
Bsc or Msc in engineering from a program accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) of ABET
Country to work at
FE is known to be mostly needed in USA and Canada, which are my target from the beginning
Working in USA or Canada is my dream from the beginning of my academic journey
