Chapter 2 - Literature Review
Introduction
A literature review discusses published information in a particular subject area, and sometimes information in a particular subject area within a certain time period. A literature review can be just a simple summary of the sources, but it usually has an organizational pattern and combines both summary and synthesis. A summary is a recap of the important information of the source, but a synthesis is a re-organization, or a reshuffling, of that information. The literature review is NOT an Annotated Bibliography of the subject matter. Make sure to cite all your work.

In the Introduction, establish the writer's reason (point of view) for reviewing the literature; explain the criteria to be used in analyzing and comparing literature and the organization of the review (sequence); and, when necessary, state why certain literature is or is not included (scope). Conclusions

Demonstrate the gap in literature re: content and/or research methods

Explain how literature led to the research questions.
