MANAGEMENT PHILOSOPHY
Customer relationship and motivation management philosophy
Management philosophies are aspects that define businesses in terms of goals and the manner in which an organization should conduct itself to ensure success. Management philosophies guide the overall operations of a business including ways of improving employee welfare and how organizations deal with customer relations (Soo, Devinney, Midgley & Deering, 2002). There are several management philosophies that a company can embrace depending on the nature of the business it is involved in. However, in this context, we are going to look into a management philosophy that seeks to improve the state of business in terms organizational activities that promote hospitality.
Understanding customer relationships is very important for businesses operating in the food industry especially for hotels. Inasmuch as customer relationships apply to all businesses that deal in products and services, it is more pronounced in the hospitality industry than almost all other industries. Customers are always concerned about value for their money especially for the products that they consume readily.
This management philosophy is significant since it encompasses the ways in which an organization seeks to achieve high performance and productivity. The food industry is a customer sensitive industry where organizational performance is determined by the type of services offered and how they are offered. Competition in the food industry relies on the quality of the product and services offered as well as the manner in which it is offered. That is why it involves a lot of hospitality.
Employees in the food industry play a critical role in ensuring that organizations for which they work for perform well in terms of attracting and retaining customers. The food industry is very vulnerable to the extent that a slight mistake in food quality, improper service provision or poor handling of customers may result to organizational failure. Companies in this industry usually incorporate public relations to ensure that the company public image is cushioned against potential threats that may destroy its image to the general public which is their only customer (Kristyn, 2018).
In this regard, it is important to motivate employees so that they carry out their duties out of goodwill and in the best interest of the organization. One thing about the food industry is that the quality of product and services is critical to the customer. This is why employees are very critical in such companies that deal in food products and hospitality. Therefore, the management philosophy that would be suitable for the food industry is one centered on customer relationships.
Understanding customer relationship requires that organizations embrace an organizational culture that is positive (Soo et.al, 2002). Organizational behavior should also be such that is promotes business and customer-employee relations. It is important for organizations to take their employees through hospitality training and ways of handling customers so that the company brand name is strengthened through publicity. However, this alone cannot yield success. The company must first ensure that the products and services offered meet the quality needs of the customer. These two aspects must be dependent for a hospitality business to thrive.
