It's widely known that hypertension is the most prevalent disease and is the leading cause of cardiovascular disease. This study focuses on patient education on the nonpharmacological treatments for hypertension. The nonpharmacological treatment of hypertension includes stress management, decrease salt intake, and managing a proper diet. The knowledge gap the study is intended to fill in is the need to educate patients on the adequate management of hypertension to help combat inadequate treatments and complications. This study is conducted to help improve patient understanding and methods for diet and salt modifications to treat hypertension. According to the world health organization (WHO), hypertension is linked to 7.1 million deaths globally, with the highest prevalence in Africa. There are national guidelines for the prevention and treatment of hypertension. Nevertheless, there is still a shortage of information and education regarding salt and diet modifications. This gap in knowledge can be associated with the kind of information or training that patients are given. This study is conducted to determine the effect of nursing intervention and education for patients with hypertension about salt and diet modification. The purpose of this study is to conclude if these nursing interventions can help the increased knowledge and management of lifestyle modifications can reduce complications, economic cost of poorly controlled hypertension, and even death.
