The Mirror and the Love Lens - Group Presentation Scripts

Leader (Gio) Icebreaker: What's one quality about you that you can't see in the mirror?

Mirror Discussion: When you look in the mirror, what's the first thing you notice? What thoughts come up when you look at yourself?

Transition: Now look at yourselves with a different lens... a Love Lens. The mirror shows only your appearance. The Love Lens helps you remember everything else that you are.

Processing: Which version of you do you like better? The one with or without the Love Lens? How did it feel looking at yourself with the Love Lens? What did you notice the second time?

Closing: One thing about me that the mirror can't show is __________.

Participant 1 (Engaged) Icebreaker: I think I'm a really good friend. My friends always come to me when they need someone to talk to.

Mirror Discussion: Honestly, usually my skin. If I'm breaking out, it's all I can focus on. Sometimes I think everyone notices it more than they actually do.

Love Lens Activity: I'm writing kind, hardworking, and loyal. My friends always tell me I'm loyal.

Processing: It felt nicer. I usually focus on things I don't like, but this reminded me there are other things about me that matter.

Closing: One thing about me that the mirror can't show is that I'm always there for people.

Participant 2 (Engaged but Insecure) Icebreaker: Maybe that I'm creative.

Mirror Discussion: Probably my stomach. Honestly, I wish it looked flatter. Sometimes when I see girls on TikTok or Instagram, I start comparing myself and thinking I should look more like them.

Love Lens Activity: I'm writing creative, good listener, and determined.

When asked how she chose determined: Because even when things are hard, I usually don't quit.

Processing: It felt different. Before, I was only thinking about what I don't like. But seeing words like creative, determined, and good friend reminded me that there's a lot more to me than what I look like.

Closing: One thing about me that the mirror can't show is how hard I work.

Participant 3 (Resistant / Disruptive) Icebreaker: I don't know.

Mirror Discussion: My face. That I need better skin.

During Activity: This is kind of cheesy.

After leader redirects: I guess.

Processing: I don't know. It didn't really change anything. Maybe that I wrote funny. I forgot about that. Yeah, maybe.

Closing: One thing about me that the mirror can't show is that I'm funny.
