Stanford Prison Experiment
The creation of a total institution which would provide correctional services implied the direction humanity had undertaken in delivering since the conditions in the institutions such as prisons were overwhelming. The tests tried to tame people who had committed offenses in prisons where they were guarded by security agencies and offered services to correct their mistakes. The total institutions created had specifications for prisoners to create an environment that would accommodate them and ensure they performed as correctional centers.
Data collection methods were established to ensure the operations of the prisons were recorded to enable the government agencies to make policies which would balance prisoners and criminals. The character of guards would be described as situational since some guards became aggressive in working within the prisons, mistreating prisoners, which created mental breakdowns in the correctional organizations. The behavior patterns tested showed the need for government agencies to create institutions with specialized training on the conditions under which prison organizations would be operated. The environment created by the correctional centers resulted in prisoners developing adoption means which would enable their survival in prisons and undertake their performances appropriately.
The power created in the correctional centers executed control over other people through different identification of uniforms intended to distinguish guards and prisoners. The test of creating total institutions seemed rational since it protected the community against criminal activities by separating criminals from other people in society. Society's reaction to the creation of complex organizations resulted in the government creating more prisons worldwide where different facilities have been introduced recently. The correctional organizations aim to ensure that prisoners learn from their mistakes and reflect on the importance of avoiding crime which acts as an example to the entire community and people planning to commit the same crime. Cases of psychological disorders are developed due to unethical behavior, which both prisoners and guards observe through the means of conduct.
The test creates an environment where the government can control the actions of criminals effectively upon proper investigation and finding other people guilty of their actions. The criminals would operate normally and disturb the community by exposing the people to their rogue operations, which would lead to the destruction and dysfunction of economic activities. The correctional organizations should be measured through certain units which facilitate the prisoners with a mentally stable environment where they develop skills which would be instrumental upon their release to the world. Employment of qualified personnel would be important to ensure the physical and psychological impact created provides stability and hope for prisoners in their future. The community should provide government agencies with acceptable steps to change the criminal activities within the society and ensure the people are protected.
The test has been implemented in recent times with advancements in methods of operation where the government agencies provide for private entities and correctional centers with appropriate correctional conditions. The prison experience should be considered part of government crime control rather than a center for negative impact on the prisoners, creating an admirable community. The inmate social system should create an environment where the guards and other staff are responsible for their actions since they would mistreat the prisoners through perspective on their impact on society.
