Literary Analysis Paper

You have 2 options for this paper:

a. Choose several shorter pieces of literature that have something in common (like several poems by one author OR 3-4 short stories with the same theme OR a selection of works from the Harlem Renaissance, etc.)

b. One long piece (like a play or novel).

2. Do some research on it/them via the databases available on the Internet.

3. Here are the specs:

MLA Format

Length: at least 7 pages (not including the Work Cited page)

Font: size 12, Times New Roman

Sources: You will need at least two secondary sources in addition to your primary source(s).

· That being said:

· If you focus on one play, you will need to cite at least the play and two criticisms/historical/biographical sources.

· If you focus on three short stories, you will need to cite all three stories PLUS at least two criticisms/historical/biographical info.

· If you focus on ten poems, you will need to cite all ten poems PLUS at least two criticisms/historical/biographical sources. ALL OF YOUR PRIMARY SOURCES MUST BE PRINT SOURCES. Your secondary sources can come from the Internet, though.

Content: It demonstrates a substantive analysis of literature; in-depth development of thesis with evidence from legitimate sources (not Sparknotes, Shmoop, Gradesaver, overviews, etc.).
