EDUC 637

6 May 2018

Date: 13th May, 2018 Lesson: Science Topic 1 Lesson 3 session 1& 2 Week: 2, Term: 1 (15-25 minute periods)

Standards

1. Describe the male human reproductive systems

2. Describe the female human reproductive systems

3. Describe the female and male characteristics/ features of the male and female reproductive systems.

4. Distinguish the functions of the male and female reproductive systems in humans.

5. Briefly explain the physical and biological changes in the human body at adolescence and after adolescence.

Learning & Teaching Standards

1. Let students participate in questions and answers (Q&A) forums orally and discuss with them the correct answers.

2. Demonstrate using charts and diagrams both on the board and on projection the male and female reproductive systems.

3. Determine the levels at which the students understand the biological processers in the human reproductive system.

4. Test the students’ ability to understand the biological processes: reproduction and reproductive mechanisms. Let randomly selected students to illustrate and describe the processes in front of the class.

5. Discuss and compose a list of the unique biological terms and terminologies. Let students understand them comprehensively (John, 2016).

Objectives:

At the end of the topic the students should be able to:

· Understand the difference between the male and female reproductive parts and systems.

· Discuss and explain the functions of the reproductive systems in humans completely.

· Identify and explain the mechanisms and biological processes in reproduction.

· Summarize the male and female human reproductive organs and their corresponding functions as used in biological/ scientific field.

Teaching Targets

Introduce

Diagrammatic representation, group work discussions, projections.

Practice

Oral presentations of mechanisms and processes,

Mastery

Summative assessment

Students I can statements:

I can differentiate the parts and functions of the male and female reproductive systems, explain the biological and physiological processes in reproduction and finally describe the mechanisms in female and male reproductive systems.

Vocabulary:

Sexual intercourse

Reproduction

Hormones

Conception

Menstrual Cycle

Ovulation

Fertilization

Materials:

Science book, manila paper,

Laptop, Questions and Answers (Q&A).

Activities:

Background knowledge: students general knowledge on reproduction

Read lesson and take notes

Discussion of objectives

Mark the Q&A

Deliver a summary at the end of topic

Level/Rigor

Introduction

Group work discussions of the mechanisms, processes and functions of different parts.

Concepts of hormonal discharge and their roles.

Mastery

Explains growth and change in males and females in details and examples in summary

Activities:

Vocabulary and terminologies definition and meaning : select students to go through the summary terms and terminologies as the others listen and write down.

Background knowledge : students should share what they know about reproduction.

Reading lesson: The volunteer students should read through the course book as others listen and make notes.

Projection and Diagrams : use a projector to illustrate more functions and parts of reproduction.

Assessments: provide assessment tests to all students; group and individual work.

Write sentences using the following vocabulary words:

Menstrual Cycle

Ovulation

Fertilization

Spermatology

Draw a picture of the male and female reproductive systems.
