Due tonight at 2 am EST A MUST !!!!!!
Many of Shakespeare’s plays were accompanied by music. He used many types of musical instruments to accompany his works. Some of these included wind, percussion, and string instruments. Music is still used to accompany stories that are acted out today, such as television shows, movies, and musicals.
What is the music used for? Authors, playwrights, and directors often use music for emphasis. They want the audience to understand the mood or tone of a particular scene. Today, this is called a soundtrack.
For this assignment, you will design a soundtrack for three scenes in Romeo and Juliet. To complete this project, you will need to do the following:
-
Choose three scenes from Romeo and Juliet. Write down the act and scene numbers of the scenes you choose. For each scene, write a three- to five-sentence summary of what occurs. Try to choose scenes with a lot of emotion or conflict.
-
Choose a song to serve as the soundtrack for each scene. You may choose any song, as long as it is appropriate for school. The song must make sense with what is going on in the scene. For example, in a scene with a character’s death, a cheerful song would not be appropriate or make sense.
-
Write down the title of the each song, the performer, and the song lyrics. You may choose to highlight a few lines or verses that stand out and parallel the scene you chose. Then, in at least five sentences, state the reason you chose this song and explain how it relates to the scene you chose. What do the lyrics mean? How do they relate to the scene? What feelings are mentioned in the songs and shown by the characters?
If you would like, you may choose one or two songs that do not have lyrics. In your explanation, discuss how the instrumental music relates to the scene by focusing on the composition, types of instruments used, volume, expression, and other features of the music.
