INSTRUCTIONS:  Using ONLY the assigned texts for the lesson, identify an issue relating to race, ethnicity, or gender that two of the texts address. In this brief reaction essay, you should:

· take a position on the issue;

· express and defend your point of view on the issue as opposed to or in agreement with the texts your selected;

· include effective evidence for your position;

· directly converse with the texts by incorporating short quotations, summaries, and/or paraphrases.
