Excusive Summary
This report aims to construct a detailed career decision plan for myself. The selected occupation is branch managers. In the first section of this report, I plan to indicate how my education brings a value-add component to the organization. Additionally. A brief design interview plan will be introduced in the second section. This interview including some open-ended questions is used for collecting information from the industrial insider. Finally, there is a three-step action plan in the last section. I prefer using this plan to gather more detailed information associated with branch managers.
Brief Job Description
A branch manager is responsible for directing internal communications from the regional manager to middle management and externally when advising clients. Additionally, a branch manager needs to be organized and ensure day to day workflow of the firm. Most financial institution employers require job applier to have at least 5 years’ experience in managerial position.
Value-added Component to the Organization
By studying in the BA leadership program, my abilities to adapt to the change, communicate with teammates efficiently, and build customer relationships effectively should bring a value-add component to the organization. Firstly, adaptability allows me to think logically and approach problems calmly when a crisis occurs, which is essential to branch managers. Secondly, strong communication is an essential ability in maintaining a good workplace relationship among the organization. In addition, Efficient communication with co-workers increases my work efficiency so that I can handle more tasks for the organization. Thirdly, my ability to maintain a good relationship with consumers can help companies to enhance consumer’s royalty and gain a favorable brand reputation. Furthermore, consumers seem to recommend the company they trust to their friends. According to research conducted online (Kang 2019), almost 90% of consumers trust the brand recommended by their friends. Consumers’ referrals contribute to company’s sales-boosting and social awareness gaining. Therefore, my degree in BA leadership should bring some value-add components to the organization.
Design Interview Plan
To start a design interview, I prefer to invite an industrial insider whose personality is similar to mine. Firstly, by searching on the work BC, I normally identify and determine the most suitable interviewee. An invitation letter should be sent to the interviewee by email. My personality and the purpose of this interview will be included in the email. The interview will be scheduled at the weekend because the interviewee may be busy from Monday to Friday. Due to Covid-19, The interview should be held online through the Zoom. At the beginning of the interview, I plan to share my personal stories and qualities associated with being a branch manager. In order to motivate the interviewee to provide the needed information, I design some interview questions as follow:
· Do you think I have the proper qualification for being a branch manager?
· May I know your story related to the most significant achievement?
· May I know how do you get this job?
· Could you tell me some workplace challenges you met and solutions you used?
· Could you share some experience related to co-worker’s relationship management?
At the end of the interview, I will let the interviewee know that I am interested in being a branch manager. I hope that the interviewee could provide some hidden job information to me.
Three-three Information Gathering Plan
Firstly, the main job analysis tool used to find accurate data for this occupation includes online articles and search engines like Indeed.com (2020). Most companies’ post their job description and requirement on these searching engines. By matching keywords to my interests, location, and personal qualities, I can narrow searching results. In addition, some companies may only post job advertisements on their official website. Directly visiting companies’ careers page should be an effective way to gather occupation information. Furthermore, I plan to contact industry insiders through social media such as Facebook. Holding interviews with them to gather job-related information. Finally, I prefer to make a conversion with my pervious instructors, who used to be managers or supervisors in local financial institutions. They may know more detailed information related to the hidden job market.
Conclusion
My personality such as openness seems to be consistent with job requirements related to branch managers. By conducting some design interviews, I may be familiar with duties and responsibilities of branch managers. However, A candidate for branch managers requires roughly 5 years of experience in roles such as Accountant. To get on the right career path, the first step for me is to find an entry-level position in a financial institution. More knowledge and work experience normally contribute to my future success in being a branch manager.
