Periodization Program Design Project

PURPOSE
In this project, you will:
· Write a comprehensive needs analysis for your athlete/client
· Draft a summary of an annual plan
· Apply knowledge of exercise prescription and programming techniques into a comprehensive periodization model
· Program will contain
· Resistance training
· Plyometric training
· Speed & agility training
· Aerobic training
TASK
1. Provide a movement analysis, physiological analysis, and injury analysis specific to your athlete’s sport and position, if applicable.
· Movement analysis: Define the characteristic movements of the sport. For each characteristic movement, you should indicate specific muscle action and activity. Paragraph form.
· Injury analysis: Describe injuries common to the sport/position. Paragraph form.
2. Provide an overview of an annual plan using the provided spreadsheet. Begin by indicating time of year (season), sport practice frequency, and training specificity. Then, indicate frequency, volume, and intensity for each training variable.
· Where a scale of 1-10 is used, 1 indicates low and 10 indicates high.
3. Select two (2) four-week training blocks for which to design a program. These training blocks may not come from the same season. Highlight the selected training blocks in yellow on the spreadsheet.
4. Write four (4) explanations of your rationale for your model.

· Rational for training block 1
· Rational for training block 2
· These explanations should be two well-developed paragraphs.
SUBMISSION NOTES
· Reference the Academic Calendar and indicate school holidays, if necessary.
· Written portions should be in your own words, in complete sentences, grammatically correct, and well-developed.
· You will have two files: one Word and one Excel to submit to the assignment in Canvas by the due date.
