Theme: The Wrong Suspect

FADE IN INT. RESTAURANT - NIGHT Inside, DYLAN is seated at a table in the far end, impatiently waiting for his date, MARYNNE. He watches as other couples dine and wine inside the restaurant as they giggle at each other’s jokes. Not in a suit you’d expect, DYLAN is in a simple shirt and khaki trouser. He glances at a rose that he had picked up on his way. To his left, nothing but a large glass wall adjacent to the street. He looks at his watch. But then-- MARYNNE walks in looking all fine in her body-hugging strapless less and blue stilettos to match with it.

MARYNNE

Hey Dylan, sorry for keeping you waiting. The traffic was just a mess.

DYLAN (Hugging her)

It’s no problem. I’m just glad you made it. How have you been? I missed you. I mean it’s been like a week since we last met. (Calls the waiter) MARRYNNE Yes, it feels like forever since we last saw each other. But now that you are here, I should tell you that my proposal got approved by the dean. WAITER How may I help you? DYLAN

(To the waiter)

We shall have a glass of wine please. Thank you. (To Marynne) That’s great news. I remember I told you, you could do it. Hah! Hah! We should celebrate right?

Marynne and Dylan enjoy the wine and each other’s company as they discuss whether to throw a party or not in celebration of Marynne’s success. Dylan then excuses himself to go visit the washrooms. After all, he had been waiting for about an hour before she showed up. Marynne takes advantage of the situation to put some white substance into Dylan’s drink. But-- He does not sip any more of his wine when her turns

FADE TO BLACK

FROM BLACK INT. DYLAN’S OFFICE - NIGHT DYLAN is disturbed by the fact that he saw MARYNNE’S plan to drug him. He is with a fellow detective, JOHN PARKER, as he explains what he saw.

PARKER

Are you sure that is what you saw? I mean it could be that she just brushed her hand over your drink. DYLAN Don’t you think I’d want to believe that too? I know what I saw Parker. She tried to drug me. If she isn’t guilty of something then why is she acting like it? PARKER I don’t know man. Does she know that you are a detective? Because if she does, may be that the reason she acted that way. DYLAN No! She doesn’t. And I plan to keep it that way for now.

FADE OUT

THE END
