( IT Issues and Management IT Paper Project )

( OVERVIEW )

Students wil l identify an IT Management Issue to research and develop an executive summary no more than 3,000 words (body), roughly 6 pages in length and submit to the appropriate folder in the online classroom. Individually students are required to find a publicly available IT related issue to research. At the on set of the course, students must identify their topic they wish to research. Students are not allowed to research the same topic as their peers, therefore they must receive approval in advance prior to researching their topic. To help research the issue, students may use and include any resources available - including their classmates.

Note: All submissions should be original work. Proper formatting of the paper should follow APA guidelines, including the in-text citations and references.

Students should prepare a brief 1-2 page update of the research they have conducted on their project. The

prescribed outline for the presentation is listed below. Suggested Outline:

1. Business History / Background

2. Issue

3. Business Impact

With this update, students will receive feedback to aid them in identifying gaps and prepare their final paper. Feedback may include necessary attention required to clarify their paper in terms of content, presentation, and/or other areas related to creating a strong final paper.

Expected Outcomes:

1. Students should show they have conducted some research and identify sources to find information.

2. Demonstrate the capability to identify an important IT issue and how it impacts a business

3. Communicate and raise issues that could be related to their research such as finding sources or discovering ways to improve their delivery of their research.

4. Demonstrate the application of concepts related to forming a proper question to decision makers on a topic they have limited information about.

( DELIVERABLE 3: IT TERM PAPER )

After assessing all source material and incorporating feedback from the update presentation and class discussions, students are required to complete an executive summary of their IT issue. In general, the body of summary should be less than 3,000 words (approximately 6 pages) in length. Additional information can be included in an Appendix if required. Some guidance can be provided in class, however the students do have flexibility in the organization of their project. Overall the ideas should be complete and concise. Below is a suggested outline.

Suggested Outline:

3. Issue and Business Impact

4. Assessment of the Information Technology (associated to the main issue)

5. The solution chosen (by the company)

6. Lessons Learned (e.g. your recommendations)

7. Summary / Conclusion
