Overall project

Propose a Wi-Fi for an organization of your choice. You can choose any organisation and design a

wireless network to suit its requirements considering the coverage/floor plans, throughput and cost factors. However, the organisation should be selected such that network design is complex enough with a number of access points and devices.

Example: 1. Wi-Fi network for a hotel

Timeline

Registering of groups (2nd week): Submit, group name, member names and contact details to lecturer

Submission 1 (5th week):

One page project proposal and discussion with lecturer (4 marks) You must submit a project proposal containing,

• Group members and roles • Requirements of organization which you are going to propose a Wi-Fi network • Network overview • Project plan

Refer the instructions provided in Moodle

Submission 2 (11th week): Class presentation/Video submission (8 marks) Prepare a video presentation explaining the project and submit it to unit lecturer. The video could be

uploaded to onedrive and link shared with the lecturer. If the video production is not viable seek lecturer’s help to do a class presentation.

Submission 3 (12th week): Final report (8 marks) Prepare a detailed report on system design. There should be contribution by each member.

Both the report and presentation should contain detailed information on:

1. Background of the organization

2. Network design and floor plan

3. DS, AP, BSS, and ESS information

4. Used devices, range, frequency, IEEE substandard

5. Cost analysis

This is a group work and students are evaluated based on individual performance.
