Internet Service Providers
Considerations
When selecting an internet service provider (ISP), the company should consider types of connection offered, connection speed, and cost efficiency. There are two main types of internet service: broadband service and high availability service. Broadband service is cheaper and offers higher speeds but is less reliable and has lower quality. High availability service is reliable and has high speeds. The speed of the internet connection has to align with the speed requirements of the company to ensure that the business has enough need to support its operations including peak times. Every internet service comes with a price tag and depends on types of connections used (Tate, 2009). The company has to consider the ISP service costs to determine its efficiency in serving the business objectives.
Internet Service Providers
Some of the ISPs that the company can consider are Verizon and Orange business services. Verizon is a wireless network provider with an availability of over 90%. The company offers connection speeds of 15mbps and includes a security package that provides device-based security and identity theft protection. On the other hand, Orange services offer connections with speeds of 1000mbps. The connection has high reliability as it is redundantly built offers orange security solutions packages tailored to the needs of each client (Orange Business Solutions, 2017). The most appropriate ISP for the company is orange business services as it has high reliability, offers high connection speeds, and has various security tools.
Recommendations
Hardware and Software
The company has to buy various hardware equipment critical to its objectives. Some of the hardware required include PC desktops, servers, computer peripherals, printers, VoIP telephone, and network equipment such as routers and switches. Essential software applications such as operating system, business tools, and security programs have to be installed in the relevant devices. The devices also have to be configured to connect to the company network.
Printer Configuration
The company has to configure the printer to ensure it works as expected. It is essential to change the default administrative password and disable SMTP server service. The management should set file system password and the control panel password. Additionally, they have to configure printing controls to enable the computers to print over the network.
Bandwidth and device
Since the new station has about 50 employees, the company has to allocate adequate network resources to support teleconferencing. The company has to provide various teleconferencing tools such as Skype and web-based conferencing platforms. The necessary bandwidth to support teleconferencing in the company is 50 mbps for inbound server and 312 mbps for an outbound server. It is recommended that the company has 50% extra capacity communication channel to support optimal performance.
