PEERS POST:
Hello. My name is Anthonya. I currently reside in Virginia. I'm a mother of one. My son Ayden is one of the main reasons behind me pursuing my degree.
Honestly, I'm not going to lie, at points in time I gave up one this venture into becoming an administrator. I was suffering from postpartum after having my son. We have a horrible delivery experience that left him in the NICU for two months. Upon birth his cord was wrapped around his neck for hours and he suffered from a lack of oxygen for over 15 minutes. If you know anything about anatomy, any lack of oxygen over 10 minutes results in brain damages. The doctors assured me my son wouldn't be able to talk, walk, nor have any normal functions. I vowed to myself to defy those odds. I taught my son everything I could think of. By two years old he knew his alphabet and could count to 20. He's now 8 years old and reads on a 5 the grade level.
Throughout this entire thing I had a huge support from my mom and sisters. In 2016 my baby sister lost her life to mental illness. I gave up once again. However, I had a tradition in my house where I left quotes on my bedroom door. If you entered my room you had to take a quote a leave a quote. One day I noticed a quote on my door that I never saw, mind this this is months after losing my sister. My sister had left me words expressing how proud she was of me that I never allowed my situation to make me give up. Ever since finding that note I haven't given up on anything.
I want to become an early childhood administrator because I genuinely care about children and want families to feel supported in their child's education journey. I think the course outcomes will help me in my current or future career by giving my the proper tools I need to become an administrator. It's easy to know what the title of the job is, but I believe this course will give me full detail and insight.
