Interview Questions
1. How did you come to work in this industry? Why are you interested in health care?
Being a Combat Arms Disabled Veteran with multiple injuries, started to look into a less physical and more mental demanding job that IT provided for me.
I got interested in Health Care because I wanted to give something back to the Veterans and to make sure they are taken care of by providing the best OIT Support that medical staff needs.
2. What skills and experience do you consider to be the most crucial for an IT manager in the health care industry?
As a IT Manager you need to provide excellent time management to fulfill projects in a timely manner.
Also people skills is very important to be able to communicate to all departments. Assertiveness to provide confidence to upper management to IT Team and fulfil the request submitted by staff and departments.
3. How do you ensure your organization is keeping up with the continual advances in medical technology and other technological trends?
By researching technical reference as well as providing training to IT Staff on emerging technology.
4. What do you do when trying to solve a problem and you are confronted with contradictory information?
Depending on the situation will head to point of contact and assess situation per guidance given.
5. How do you implement significant improvements and changes to an IT infrastructure?
Being Budget minded assess the most crucial aspect of the IT infrastructure of the facility. Prioritize the improvement and changes needed around that focused entity.
6. What research do you or your team conduct before deploying a new software system or process?
Capability, Upscaling, Capability and Cost.
7. How do you align the goals of the IT department with the overall business plan of the organization where you work?
By communicating with every department and upper management and focusing in each departments priorities and needs to provide more than efficient patient care.
8. What methods have you or your team had to implement to ensure effective network security?
We make that all staff gets Network Security Training, Information Awareness, HIPPA, PIV Card Access

9. How do you explain technical details to a nontechnical audience?
To speak clearly and concisely using common language and to provide visual tools to allow an easier comprehension.
10. How long have you worked for your organization? How many IT projects have you encountered that you were able see through from start to finish in your time at this organization?
As an IT Manager I’ve been with the VA Hospital OIT Office for 6 ½ Years and seen 4 projects completed from start to finish
