Interview questions

1. Do you have a specific reason why you wanted to become a physical therapist?

The reason why I wanted to be a physical therapist is to be able to help people with physical problems and help them improve their conditions. Becoming a physical therapist would give me an opportunity to contact with people and monitor their progress which to me would translate to making a difference in the life of an individual

2. Why do think it’s a good idea to be a physical therapist?

Becoming a physical therapist is a good idea because it is both a rewarding career and among the most secure profession. The demand for therapies continues to rise each day not only among the Americans but globally among people who are mindful of their physical well-being. It is also a good idea to transform a less mobile or inactive person into a fully mobile and physically active individual.

3. Were you in any kind of program for PT?

Yes. After obtaining a six-year degree in doctor of physical therapies, I sat for a national licensure exam to practice and be accredited

4. What kind of opportunities were there for you after getting your bachelor degree?

After graduating with a bachelor degree in physical degree, I had no experience. I therefore resorted into completing the residency program in which I participated for a year. While in this program, I obtained training and experience about some specialty’s areas of physical therapy as a career.

5. What were some of the difficulties you faced when you were looking for jobs?

I did not actually face any difficulties while looking for employment because had the most desired experience level and had a professional license after exceling in the national licensure examination.

6. What are some things I should know before I continue?

You should know that physical therapy is detail-oriented career that requires one to be a great observer and a good analyst. In addition, to succeed in this career, it is important to have empathy for the patients especially because they are mostly in pain. Soft skills are thus critical for a physical therapist

7. What are some jobs that I can apply to, to get experience with what a want to pursue?

Before embarking on full career as a physical therapist, you can engage in volunteering as therapists in medical and hospital institutions. In schools, you can apply as a physical education teacher or work as a fitness instructor in a gym. In homecare and hospices, you can also work there because not all patients make it to the hospitals for therapy.

8. How long did it take you to finish school and start your job?

Ideally, it took me approximately seven years to complete studies in physical therapy. Six years were spent in studying bachelors and DPT degree. One year was spent in training and practice after which I got employed.

9. What are some skills a person should have that wants to do DPT?

A person interested in becoming a DPT, physical stamina and resourcefulness are critical skills that one should have. One must also be capable of actively using their hands and be comfortable with offering massage and patience to offer aid in physical movement. Soft skills are compassion and empathy play central role in physical therapy career.
