Technological development has been of great impact to the day to day living. Moreover the use of internet has been of great importance to the people. Communication of the people and learning had benefited greatly by use on internet. In all fields of development including education and organizational growth, depend on internet for research and information update. Others include business persons who have greatly benefited from the internet for advertisement and marketing of their products. In education sector, internet has been of great use in areas like providing online classes for the students, providing class notes and also offering a vast range off information in research sector (Kiang, Raghu, 2010). Internet has been one great channel for entertainment among the youths, children and the adults. It has vast sites which are based on different agenda which makes it a very efficient and reliable source of all kinds of information. This paper discusses the different internet services to the user, both advantages and the disadvantages that come along with internet services.

Benefits of internet services

Internet is a source of information and knowledge to the users. It is through sites like Google and search engine that can be used by the user to key in data in the aim of searching some kind of information. Internet is very important to provide the unknown information and make the unclear clear (Weible & Wallace, 2009). The use of internet goes further to provide practical to the user when searching for some complex information that requires explanation as well as practical exercise of the server. This can be done by use of You Tube to search for educative videos. This makes learning easy and enjoyable to the learners as well as making complex less complex. For instance, a learner may use Google to search educating sites for further explanations and for personal studies. A doctor can also use the internet to search on the different health sites to help him or her in diagnosing different cases of illnesses to the patients. This helps to avoid errors or assumptions but also requires that the user does not generalize on the information found in the internet.

Through the internet there is a creation of connectivity and communication between the individuals. The internet provides different channels that ease communication across the globe. The connectivity of users in the internet makes communication easy compared to the old days where letters were the main form of communication to people who are far apart. Today, due to technological development, we have very fast mode of communication like use of emails which are generally use to communicate official communication.

There are other channels that have come up form use of the internet like the social media like Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter among others which are used to pass information to people all over the world provided there are connected to the internet. Life has been made easy where people can be able to give various kinds of information to others and within the shortest time possible. Some channels go ahead to using video calling where by the communicating persons are able to view each other through the internet.

Internet provides mapping information. The internet provides information on the different locations of places and the estimations of the time taken to get there depending on the current location of the user. This benefit have been employed to many upcoming organizations like Uber which uses the internet to trace the locations of the clients (Karagiannis, Rodriguez & Papagiannaki, 2009). The business group have also borrowed the idea whereby they advise their customers to use this information to get to their locations. Additionally, the internet has details of almost every organization or city which makes identification and location very simple whereby when a user needs to go to a certain place one only need to key in the name of the place and all the details on the location appears.

Banking and shopping services have been made easy by use of the internet.it is only by use of the internet that you are able to operate the bank account at home or at work. Currency rates are also available in the internet making it easy to identify the best time for sales exchange in the bank. Internet has made work easy in that people do not travel to the market to shop. Through use of the internet, users only need to scroll the required items and the items and the shops showing similar items appear. The only requirement is to identify the item that meets the user’s demands and preferences. The internet gives an effective channel to the buyers to view all the available items to identify the best items that meets all the needs of the user (Liao & Cheung, 2009). This is important as it helps the customers save on travelling cost and also enables time management and efficiency.

Trade and marketing has been made easy by the use of internet. The producers from different companies has to consider posting their products to the internet for their customers to view and purchase the products (Kiang, Raghu, 2010). The producers need to seek customers of the products by advertising the products this they do by advertising their products to the social media channels to ensure that a great number views the products to encourage more buyers to the product. The more the customers the higher the profit that would be made.

The other benefit is by use of internet to bring up collaboration of work with many organizations. There is a silent communication channel that is created by the use of the internet. Some people may be working with different companies where the communication is through the internet. This helps the employees as well as the employer to get used to the mode of communication thus adhere to the.

The internet provides an opportunity to work from home and accessibility of a global workforce. By use of the internet the individual is able to work with so many people across the globe. The internet has provided chances and availability of online services that are worth being the sources of employment. The internet has enabled production of services and products in a very fast way (Kiang, Raghu, 2010). The internet has created jobs many people who hate freedom to work from within their residents apart from the sensitive cases. This has been incorporated by many businesses allow their employees are work from home to reduce resources on cost and space. The internet provides a flow and constant communication of the employees.

Internet can be used to provide effective and fast donation and funding. When there is need to raise some specific amount of money in the community towards a certain project, the user can use the online platform to seek for funds for the donations. Internet would help the user to raise the highest amount this is because the information is viewed to very many people in the world (Chen & Franklin, 2012). It can be posted on the social media like in Facebook or Twitter to encourage people to contribute.

The other benefit of the internet is that it has lots of entertainment that are based on different agenda. The internet provides entertaining sessions to all levels of individual ages like children where you find so many children songs and clips to enlighten them as well as entertain them. There are also games available which most youths use for entertainment purposes. With the use of You Tube, there are very many opportunities of entertainment that are exposed to the user.

It is also through the internet that we get the cloud computing format of storing data. Cloud computing and cloud storage have enabled the users to connect computers to each other within the organization. This can be done in organizations where there are many computers that need to be connected to the main server for security of the data and monitoring (Liao & Cheung, 2009). The users are also enabled to access endless storage devices which helps the company to backup data to prevent any loss of information from the computers. This is very important in ensuring that the information is safe from loss from the computers. It ensures that the company is ready and prepared to curb loss of information.

Challenges that emerges from internet services

There are various challenges that have recently emerged from the use of internet. One of the challenge is that use of internet has led to increase in cybercrimes whereby there are any cases of computer insecurities. The information in computers have become a threat to many due to the invasion of viruses, hackers among other malicious malware (Koo & Skinner, 2009). The users of the data need to be very careful with their information and install the antimalware software to prevent losing the information. The other challenges are due to lack of authenticity in some of the sources that provide the information. Some sites are not reliable and may end up misleading the user. The other challenge is that the internet has no limit as to what information is being exposed and to what age. Therefore, there has been issues of immorality among the youths.

In conclusion, internet services have been of great advantage to the world users. Millions of people today, access the internet services for different kinds of information that is crucial in their lives. There has been notable advantages like being a source of knowledge and information to many. Through the internet, one can be able to acquire different knowledge that are relevant to the user when applied appropriately (Chen & Franklin, 2012). There are also other benefits like providing cloud computing which is very important to an organization with a number of computers. The challenges that come up from the internet services need to be addressed to prevent loss of information.
