TOPIC: REFUGEES

At the end of the summer, during the last week of classes, you will be asked to present the current state of affairs related to one GLOBAL issue. In other words, you must provide an international/cross-national overview of the topic and not just focus on the US or a single country. The presentation should be 3-5 minutes long and should include a brief overview of the scope of the problem and what the international community is doing in response. The assignment requires you to conduct online research to identify credible data and information on the issue. This means that you must ensure you are using reliable/scholarly sources and not some obscure websites or sources that are known to be inaccurate such as Wikipedia. You will have to include and cite your sources in your presentation. Please ask us if you are unsure about a certain site or have difficulties finding sources. How you structure and present your issue is pretty much up to you, and creativity is encouraged!! We will Zoom for the presentations, where you can easily share a PowerPoint or a pdf file. You will present your issue to your group, which means that within each group, each student must choose a unique global issue to present.

· Include at least five sources of information

· Include at least three different countries

Recommended structure:

1. Present a fun fact. Find a way to draw our attention

2. What is the current state of affairs in the world? Here you need to provide real-world data that best reflects your issue of choice. The emphasis here should be on providing a global perspective and not focusing on specific case studies.

3. What is the international community doing about it? Are there any organizations, agencies, treaties, or initiatives related to the issue?

4. Cite your sources
