1. What are your research interests in the area of Information Technology? Why are you inspired to research in this area, and why do you think it is important to research in this area?
Cyber security is my main area of interest in IT. It is the practice that entails offering defense to data, networks, electronics, mobile devices and computer servers from malicious attacks. It is a practice that most organizations are keen at implementing to enhance the security of their technology and important company information. Apparently, the occurrence of cyber attacks is the key reasons why I developed interest in the topic. Its division into major categories is an important matter of concern that leads to the development of interests. My main inspiration in the field is the need to improve the overall security of company systems. The increasing cases of cyber attacks among organizations is factor that creates problems in the daily operations of most companies today. Studying cyber security would facilitate me to come up with a perfect framework of dealing with the issue. Being from an Information technology has also pushed my interest on security in the cyber networking. The use of technology has crossed all the boundaries which also increased the risk of security. Which brings people in to work more on the security. Now that there is an established group of individuals which always work on cyber security.
2. Why did you select PhD in Information Technology? Why did you select University of the Cumberlands?
My selection of IT as my main area of specialization in PhD is based on the fact that the society is moving towards becoming a fully digitized one. Today the application of IT in daily operations is a trend that seems to improve on a daily basis. I figured that specializing in the field would enable me to serve the interest of the community better. It would facilitate me to place an important contribution to the society by having the knowledge. The University of the Cumberlands is my choice based on the facilities that the academic institution offers. It is fully equipped with the necessary equipment that would enable me to gain the required knowledge in the field. This is a relevant practice that makes it one of the leading institutions in the country in offering IT.
3. As an individual, what are your strengths and weaknesses and how will they impact you as a PhD IT student?
Personally, am a quick learner. This is a positive practice to me because it enables me to deal with various topics and learn them to the required pace. IT is a field that entails the dynamic calculations and solutions of effective concepts. Am also able to work in teams. This is my key strength that would enable me to relate well with other classmates during the classes and offer better educational services that the society could fully depend on leading to the development of the appropriate societal practices. My key weakness is my ability to openly ask questions. This is a weakness that affects my ability to ask important questions on issues that I may seem not to understand during the course and I cannot procrastinate any of my work which helped me to finish lead me work all the time. I would focus on eliminating my weaknesses and working on my strength.
4. Where do you see the future of Information Technology going and where do you see yourself in this mix after obtaining PhD in Information Technology from UC?
The use of IT is a practice that seems to develop on a daily basis. It is important to note that the society would be fully integrated to the IT practices as time progresses. The activity demands the creation of appropriate technological settings that promotes the activity. In future each activity is expected to be fully integrated with IT. The positive response that the society gives towards the initiative is a key factor that promotes the popularity of the movement. It would be part of the basis for each person to have IT knowledge for them to relate well with others within the society. After obtaining the PhD in IT, I see myself making important contribution in IT. It would enable me to further my knowledge and educate the society more on the relevance of IT to them which is a positive practice.
