This assignment cannot be graded because it doesn’t follow the instructions provided and lacks specific comments and examples based on the production itself and not generalized (with the exception of the Pre-show, which did offer specific information from the production). In addition, it is missing the specifics of Act I, Act II, and Act III. The questions provided in the chart are to be addressed for each of the three acts.
If you would like to redo this AP5, I will accept it for grading.
Please follow the Module 5 specifications:
Module 5 Learning Activities contains this: Download the "Viewing the Live Theatre Production of The Laramore Project" and take notes during or after viewing the live production. The Module 5 Application Project provides the link to that chart that contains the sections to be completed. Use the four questions in “During-the-Performance Notes to give specific examples for each of the three acts. When finished, attach the digital chart to an email to be send to me at npsherman@stevenson.edu so I can grade it and put the score in the gradebook. This redo must be submitted by Monday, April 18.
Live Theatre Production: The Laramie Project
April 11, 2022
Before the play began, what did you notice about the stage? Was there a set visible (e.g., walls, doors, furniture)? Was there any music playing?
The stage was dark, and music was playing in the background. Before the play began, no set (walls, doors, or furniture) was visible. [Good answer] 20/20
During the scenes, note whatever stands out or whatever feels real:
Are the actors creating the characters in the way you expected from reading the playscript? Explain.
The actors are portraying the character in the manner I anticipated from reading the playscript. The actors work hard to make the characters believable, which keeps the audience interested in the plot. [Give examples from this production with details for each of the three acts.]
How do the interactions between and among characters/actors match what you imagined when reading the play?
The interactions between and among the characters/actors are consistent with what I pictured when reading the play. The linkages and exchanges of the characters/actors impact the dramatic action. Identification and portrayal of a person's ideas, perspectives, intents, and behaviors as envisioned relationships, circumstances, and thoughts in dramatic action; role concentration on stereotype and type; detailed and precise characters. [Give examples from this production with details for each of the three acts.]
Do any items that create the setting (place/time) stand out in a good or bad way—e.g., costumes, furniture, props, lighting? Give examples.
Pleasantly, the costumes that make up the setting stand out. The costumes convey facts about a character's personality to the audience and help actors in changing into new and credible characters on stage. The clothing gives the play's background, such as the period and geographical setting. For example, the actors/characters are dressed in contemporary attire, implying that 'this is a modern-dress play.' [Give examples from this production with details for each of the three acts.]
Dimming the lighting makes the performance more intimate and helps the audience grasp what they should be feeling. [Give examples from this production with details for each of the three acts.]
How does the staging (placement and movement of actors) impact your understanding of the characters and of their connection to the storyline?
As the movement of the characters dominates my focus, stimulates my imagination, and increases my capacity for projection, the staging influences my understanding of the characters and their link to the tale. [Give examples from this production with details for each of the three acts.]
Remember to keep the program handed out by the ushers or ticket-takers at the theatre. When you write your course paper (later in the modules), you’ll need to refer to the individuals in the production staff, as well as the actors who performed the characters.
ACT ONE NOTES [Missing]
ACT TWO NOTES [Missing]
ACT THREE NOTES [Missing]
What was your overall response to this production?
The play's scenes present numerous situations about the incident in no order. I wasn't sure how the play would turn out at first, but I think it works exceptionally well for portraying what the show is attempting to convey. [Be specific.]
Even though the play contains hurdles and addresses sensitive issues, the overall message is uplifting. This was an outstanding production. [But you haven’t provided any specifics of this production]
