A project is more of a collaborative enterprise and happens in an organized manner and there is a aim that the project team will be reaching out to. The major attributes of a project include scope of the project, objectives, time lines, team, budget, and resources. The day-to-day activities are not very organized, and they do not have a particular goal, or any sort of guidance and the employees will be automatically doing their duties as listed in the responsibilities for the job description (Jenkin, Chan & Sabherwal, 2019). The top management must be committed in order to guide the team to proceed further with the project and it is responsible to develop the required standards to successfully manage the project.
The top management is what facilitates the employee empowerment and improve the job satisfaction level for the employees and take care of other aspects leading to the satisfaction to ensure the project aim is met (San Cristóbal, Carral, Diaz, Fraguela & Iglesias, 2018). In order to achieve the same, the company will make use of leadership and commitment towards the total quality management goal of satisfying the customers and employees together and the organizational climate contributes much to the quality and guidance.
Based on my experience, I would say without the top management being strong, it would collapse the entire team because a project team has to be guided properly in order to reach the goal and a leader is mandatory to keep encouraging and driving the team towards the goal with appropriate guidance. I have seen the project teams without proper project managers not being able to complete the project with the deadline or having frequent project issues and all these will affect the company and its reputation with the client.
The lack of project management practices and the adjustment made by the manager of the employees in the middle of the project for communication and delivery issues are the unique set of IT issues that the company could face (Thamhain, 2013). On the other hand, the company must improve the software and do all the upgradations and meanwhile protect the privacy and security of the systems to ensure there is no technical interruption in the project which is highly relevant when it comes to an IT project.

A project is a new, time bound, temporary effort that has a definite beginning and definite ending with several related and/or interdependent tasks to create a unique product or service (Kloppenborg, Anantatmula & Wells, 2019, p. 4). The main attributes of the project are the scope of the project, objectives of the project, project team, time and costs of the project. Each of these attributes should be clearly defined for the project to be successful. Projects are definitely different from what most people do in their day-to-day jobs, because projects have a definitive purpose, a goal and it should be completed within the stipulated time and budget. As the say-to-day jobs are continuous, while the project is not. The other difference is day to day activities involve one person, whereas the project requires a team effort or sometimes the entire organization. A project’s success not only depends on the project team, but it also requires commitment and equal or more efforts from the top management. Top management support has been widely identified and highly ranked as a critical success factor in most information system studies (Elbanna, 2013). The top management commitment plays an important role for the project’s success and they should play an important role in defining the project as well as composing the project team. Top managers have a crucial role in creating and providing the conditions needed for project success, which is also referred to using terms such as “meta-structuring” or “technology-use-mediation” (Boonstra, 2013).
As with any projects, IT projects also possesses some challenges for organizations and the project team. With everyday advancements and improvements in information technology, organizations and the project team undertaking IT projects need to have up to date information and lack of adequate knowledge on technological advancements would lead to project failure. For example, if a project’s duration is too long, the early plan of the project should be examined frequently and be updated with the new technology so that it would avoid additional costs and delays in the projects. Data management and security is the other challenge that come up with IT projects and any process should be implemented carefully that would risks for both the company and customers.
