Ice Breaker Speech Template Outline

I. Introduction (Approximately 1 min-2 min.)

A. Attention Getter: Put a quote, short story, thought-provoking question, or anything else you feel is meaningful to start your speech.

B. Introduction of the speaker: Within this section, you must talk about:

1. Where are you from? Who makes up your family? (ex: mom, dad, siblings; husband, wife, children; no children, just pets etc.)

2. Your current career aspirations or occupation?

3. Your degree program at WCCS and any other possible college career aspirations?

4. A unique, fun fact about you (ex: your favorite type of music or movie, you met a certain celebrity, you have a special gift/talent etc.)

C. Thesis: State how this quote relates to your life, how this motivates you or how you interpret this quote.

**Your main points will serve as key points in the speech where you will discuss how you interpret your selected quote to fit your everyday life. During the body of the speech, you will discuss how your selected quote motivates you or serves as your life’s motto.**

D. Preview of Main Points: First, I will discuss [main point 1]. Secondly, I will discuss [main point 2].

Transition to first main point: Now, I will discuss [main point 1].

II. Body (Approximately 1 min-2 min)

A. Main Point 1:

Transition (signpost, summary, preview): Now, that I've discussed [main point 1], let's discuss [main point 2].

B. Main Point 2:

Transition and signal closing: I've just discussed [main point 2]. Let's conclude.

III. Conclusion (Approximately 30 seconds-1 minute)

A. Restate Thesis: Copy and paste the exact same thesis from above.

B. Review Main Points: Copy and paste the preview of main points in the intro, but put into past tense.

C. Memorable Closer: Find a creative way to tie into your introduction.
