Is an extended day program
Curriculum includes: reading, math, biology, business, arts, history, astronomy, physics, Pre-Med, anthropology, and archaeology
Has variety of academic enriched themes designed to help elementary school students (i.e. light speed (math) and time warp (reading)
Purpose of themed curriculum is to make learning interactive and meaningful
Hands On Science Outreach (HOSO)
Is an extended day & afterschool program
Program was designed to encourage all children to, including minority, low-income, and at-risk students in Grades K-6th to have fun learning science
Program aims to increase child problem solving skills & confidence with science
Activities are divided into grade levels & are carried out in 8-week sessions each year
Fifth Dimension
Is an extended day program
Program operates from a Vygotskyan Perspective
Vygotsky's theories illustrates exposing young children to opportunities and social skills in collaboration with more capable others enables them to develop their own academic and social skills
The program stresses social interaction, communication, and problem solving when approaching various tasks
Fifth Dimension
Students are given choices about what tasks to learn but are required to follow directions
Emphasizes active learning through playing
Most activities use computers
Each site creates a mythical creature that serves as a mentor to students
Fifth Dimension is a maze of tasks that each student must navigate to finally become a “wizard’s assistant”
Each maze is personalized
Program intended to enhance work-study habits, social skills, social consciousness, working with peers, following daily instructions, problem solving, and improving academics
The Imaginitis Learning System
Is a cooperative learning, afterschool, language arts program created for students in Grades 3rd-12th Grade
The goal of the program is to expose the participants to skills needed for effective and productive learning; in hopes that these will help the participants develop strong workplace skills
Program utilizes University of Minnesota language arts curriculum
Program teaches such skills as cooperation, team building, and conflict resolution
Explore Incorporated
Is an extended day program
Program attempts to improve students’ academic achievement
Program has main themes that are incorporated into curriculum
Themes include: (1) experiential learning, (2) community service, (3) physical education, (4), and (5) individual activities homework support
Explore connects the goals of each lesson to state & national standards
Overall Goal is to teach students to think critically

Mindsurf
Is an academic K-6th afterschool enrichment program created by National Geographic & Sylvan Learning Center
Main goal of program is to provide children with enriching academic achievement during afterschool hours while creating safe, fun learning opportunities
Activities include homework assistance, study skills, and students join various clubs of interest
Program has various themes such as Blast Off & Asia
Themes are explored using computers, video cameras, and numerous software programs
Students also receive kits to use at home
Incentive homework program: “Surf shop”

Brings students, families, schools, and communities by providing children with academic enrichment programs on school grounds during non-school hours
Curriculum strives to improve socioemotional, academic, and physical skills by teaching students critical thinking, problem solving, social skills, safety methods, and good health habits
Curriculum has 5 themes that include (1) All About me and (2) Our Global Festival
Program has specialty club that help teenagers develop skills, hobbies, and interests (i.e. ceramics, chess, and business preparation)
