Sam,

1. Love the post. It is very honest. I think all of us would lying if we did not admit technology is a distraction. It is incredibly hard at times to fight to separate one self from the lure of the phone. I personally don't have social media but there is plenty of other distractions that divert my attention on the phone. I like your solution to simply deactivating certain programs to break fee of the clutches of social media. Sometimes you have expend extreme efforts to realign priorities. I hope I can expend the same amount of effort to realign when necessary. Thanks for sharing and being so forth coming.

Sam,

2.  Great post. You learn about others and their distractions they might fall victim too. I also like how you are willing to not only put yourself first, but your education as well by allowing your friends to exit your life because they do not understand the importance of your responsibilities. It can be hard, but sometimes it must be done. I myself, have a few circle of friends for that very reason. The friends I do have an understanding that not only my education is important, but my happiness as well. Are you able to identify your distractions quickly, or when it's too late? I sometimes have a problem figuring it out when it can be too late. But I try to not allow the distractions to become a habit, which, can sometimes be difficult.

Unit IV Discussion Board Question

Top of Form

All learners have different ways of learning, remembering things, and even studying course material. Several students and professionals have used various learning strategies (study techniques), and each technique can be effective as long as it has been paired with the right person. For instance, a visual learner may not remember as much simply by listening to the material. A visual learner needs to see it and visualize it, right? For this discussion, describe the learning strategy (study technique) you prefer, and briefly explain why you believe it works for you. What works best for you, and why? With any luck, we can learn from each other throughout this discussion.

Rehearsal, rehearsal, rehearsal…I’m sure you get the point, right? Rehearsal is an important concept to retain in the process of learning. Many of us, if not all of us, have experienced some form of eye-opening discovery as a result of rehearsal. For instance, have you ever watched a motion picture for the second or third time before identifying something you did not see before? Maybe you read a book or participated in a conversation, and the second round revealed something new. With each experience, we become better audience members, better readers, and better conversationalists, and we can look deeper into the content of the message being delivered. For this discussion, share one of your own everyday experiences with rehearsal (learning something new during or after the second round). Or, share an example of using rehearsal for a future event and explain how rehearsal could be beneficial toward a thorough learning experience.

Unit IV Homework

The purpose of this assignment is for you to practice using a study technique, and the focus is not so much about the accuracy of how the notes relate to the source. Accuracy is important while taking notes, and it should improve as you

continue to practice. This homework assignment provides you with an opportunity to practice a learning strategy (study technique). A large part of online learning involves you, the student, making the most of your learning experience. All of the material and the professor are there for you; however, what you do with those resources is very important to an online learner. Using effective study techniques is one way to capitalize on your time and efforts throughout your education. Most importantly, you must identify what works best for you. For this homework assignment, select ONE of the following study techniques:

Use one of the study techniques listed above as you read/view a source you located in the library. Feel free to use one of the sources you located in Unit I, or locate

a new source if you like. The source can be a chapter from a book, an article,

or a video. You are not required to use the templates, but they are there if you would like to. After preparing the study technique, save your work and submit it in Blackboard for grading.
